All seems very quiet on here at present, I don't know if some of our members are away or just depressed by the lack of strikers. Either way, I thought we could do with a match thread for the game on Saturday - anyone off down there? I reckon we'll lose 3-1, Bradshaw scoring our only goal with 5,064 in attendance.
Sorry I've been down in London this week and got back this afternoon. Good news and bad news on the striker front this week by the looks of things with Marsden out for 8 weeks and Burke coming in on loan from villa.
Lenny, I believe town are in a parlous state. I hope town get a draw, but I have never been so despondent at the start of a new season. my lower digestive system tells me we are in for a grim season.
I will not be surprised if we suffer a heavy defeat - no matter how good defence or midfield is if you do not pose a threat up front the opposition will quickly realise that and push up on you. The way we have sleepwalked into a new season without a viable forward line is an absolute disgrace and we would be better off if Morgan had stayed. Burke may be talented but you cannot expect a boy to do a man's job without an experienced partner to help him. My best guess is 3-0 to Orient.
if town take a heavy defeat tomorrow and i hope they don't , expect comments about our current management.
Atcham, I also hope we don't but irrespective of GT's thoroughly deserved high status amongst fans questions must be asked about the current policy of virtually writing off the first month of the season while our rivals are busy signing experienced strikers who have some sort of record at this level. We seem to have little hope of signing anyone with a good record (such as Clarke) and even more chancy signings (such as Manset) have gone elsewhere. Look at Showomni and Amoo banging in the goals in the last week - surely players like that should be within our grasp. The over-reliance on loans (especially youth loans) is very damaging as we never have any sort of settled side and we are effectively acting as a feeder side for young players from clubs in higher divisions to see if they are good enough (and many of them cannot hack it in League 1). I think a new approach is needed.
Tinnedhats.......why not have a go a my challenge?....you only have to guess (or calculate) four numbers.....join in and have a laugh at your fellow supporters' expense.
AJ has recovered from the slough of depondency. I till think town' squad Is in a parlous state, totally the fault of the chairman and GT, but I will concede Carlisle may be a crap team ,. so AJ goes Orient 1 town 2. wright and Rowley. come on wycherley ant turner, sort yourselves out, and 5 more decent players, that means wallet, cheque book, pawning the Bentley , pocket watch and hip flask
If, in time, we do not sign on contract some decent players then as GHMM says questions will need to be asked of the management. Until then let's hope for a blinding win today! Town to to start the ball rolling ASAP to help build the squad and supporters confidence. LO 1 v town 2 Burke and Parry 5432
AJ is once again up to his neck in despondency. yes Carlisle were crap last week and this, same as town. our squad would be lucky to hold its place in L2. I understand GT is waiting for the right man. let us hope it is Tony Pulis. whoever is brought in to rescue town, must start with a clearout. I can no longer keep the faith, our wafer thin squad and the payday loan manager have seen to that.
Just back. A fairly even first half with us testing their keeper more often. Two poor goals given away-Weale at fault for the second. The defence then fell apart and we were lucky only to concede 3. Wildig and Summerfield were not as effective.Parry disappeared the longer the game went on. Bradshaw had one run-that's it. Burke looked stronger than some striking loanees in the past (Winnall/Sawyers) and had two half decent efforts. The front two were never in any really threatening positions which is part if the problem.
