The lack of self awareness of some of these groups is breath taking. If David cameron turned round and said he was going to make Islam illegal in the UK half of the country would convert regardless of belief - do these people really not get how unpopular they are and, more to the point, how so many will turn round and do the polar opposite of what they say either out of habbit or pure spite?
Yep, the 50,000 orange order fannies provide a natural catalyst for the millions of kafflicks voting independence. If I were the cynaical type, which I am, I would say the whole story is a plant to achieve just that.
Unlike you, I am not in the slightest bit cynical. I'm more open minded and trusting of people's motives - very much like ER actually - but I wholeheartedly agree on this one. There must be loads in the Scottish labour party that want to tell them to take a running jump!
Think Salmond has his hands full with Grangemouth. If it closes as expected this could be the final coffin in the nail of independence, it is that serious. Oh and before you jingoistic nationalists pounce on me I am still undecided. Haven't seen a positive and well thought out argument from either side. An independent report from experts in country affairs, economics etc is what I want to see. All the politicians are self interested.
