Forgive the title, just a description, we have the yellow and red card system being applied but how about the rugby system of being sent off for 10 minutes for a cooling off period..

Yellow for first offence, Orange and 10 minutes in the box for 2nd ( Keeps the game even for longer) Red and off for serious offences..

It works for rugby and would be good for the game...

    I agree with that Wiz.
Plus I would like to see a one game ban, where a player has dived. This is to be decided on video evidence after the game. I bet you managers would make sure none of his players dive if they know that video evidence will be used and resulting in an automatic one game ban with no appeal.

    Yeeeeeep agree 100%

We can learn a lot of things from rugby, Like when the players don't agree with the ref in football he'll get abused by the whole team, In rugby the ref wouldn't have none of it and only wants to speak with the captains.

No it's already too easy to get hooked as it is. Yellow cards used to be earnt not sprayed around and it should be hard to send somebody off. The game IS now for pussies this would make it even more girly. Rules should be the same at every level and that would hard to apply to non league Sunday league kids league. Only thing I would agree with us tightening up on diving, bans for diving and long bans where the diver affects the score.

Only problem I can see is the team temporarily down to 10 men then killing the game and
playing for time, which in turn could then lead to more yellow cards for time-wasting!

One thing I think it would be good for is goalkeepers timewasting- How often, especially last season, did we see the opposition taking an age over any goal kick etc only eventually to be booked after 89 minutes by the ref.-A totally meaningless penalty given what he had been doing all afternoon- Maybe a 10 minute break might sharpen the mind a little?

How about after a certain number of accumulated points for yellow cards, cited offences etc. Then team has to play one game with 10 men!!! might make em think. or just points deductions.

I think there is a case for an orange card for a professional foul in the box that results in a penalty.

Also I agree with ROD - an independent panel to sit every week to review "diving" - bans (and fines) for those that do (panel could be made up of an FA Official, an ex-player and an ex-referee)

Would be far more effective to stop diving if the punishment was a 3 point deduction plus the player being absent for a game you can bet your life no manager is going to allow his players to dive then, Mind you I'd feel somewhat sorry for any team with Suarez in it they would end up with negative points and the stupid thing is he does not need to do it.

New Chant we all agree Suarez is better than Daley

The easiest rule change to make is to the rule that states that if a referee witnesses an incident then no retrospective action can be taken.

The FA claim that they don't want to undermine referees, but the simplest change would be to allow referees to change their mind after a game when provided evidence by the FA. This way, if someone were to horrifically tackle another player and get away with it in a match, the referee can then be given video evidence and asked if he wants to change his mind and give a ban.

Too complex. A yellow card should be that, a proper offence v trivial ones. A red card = serious offence. No grey [orange!] areas. Every effort should be made to keep players on the pitch, 11 v 11.

I would only adopt citing, but this would be to allow clubs to cite "divers".

I would tend to agree with this, although the game is not really affected by 'diving cheats' at local park level and you very rarely see kids doing it, I have always believed that the game should be exactly the same specification on the downs as it is in the premier league but now with goal line technology coming in at higher levels ,etc, the game will become noticeably different across standards.

As it is premier league football that has a problem with 'diving cheats' I suppose you should deal with it at that source.. retrospective bans please and long ones.

Agreed - these days, there only has to be "contact" and its a foul and quite often, a yellow.

As my mate says (in a non PC manner) - ****s game now...

I have long thought that would be a good idea. Can never see it happening though. Too much money/TV involved
