Last night wasn't great, however there are question marks over the vadility of Leicester's goal (Was Vardy offside in the build up), plus I think we should have been given a penalty, it was a dead cert, the only only reason it wasnt given was due to the Ref's vision being impeaded. I think the majority of people that follow football can agree that a draw would have been a fair result.

Being in charge for 3 days prior to the game is obviously no time at all for Benny, but there has been a positive effect already. I'm optimistic because we have a good week until our next game he willbe maticulous in his preperation and planning for Sunderland. Whenever I've looked at managers of our club, ive questioned whether they have a specific plan for the game, what to do if we score/conceed early, and recent history I rarely believe that our managers have anything up their sleeves, but I have a lot more confidence in Rafa B!

Players are coming back, im sure we wont be far from a fully fit squad on Sunday, 52k fans getting behind the team for one of the biggest Derby's in decades! Lets Fck Sh!t UP

Bring on Sunderland, Bring on Norwich. a massive 6 points and the start of our great escape!

Tactically we looked much sharper. Especially splitting up Sissoko and Janmaat, and playing Perez on the right instead of left. Given that Taylor is scared of the football we defended quite well. Taylor literally tried to run past Elliot and hide in the net whenever Leicester came at him, shameful.

Why do the media and the deluded geordies keep banging on about the fabled 52k everyweek even though your average is below that. Also must be no away fans in your gound.

Us getting a penalty would have been extremely lucky, Morgan put his hands in to his body, rather than waving them out and trying to actively block the ball. Leicester's goal was only a leg offside with body onside, those are always 50/50 and Leicester would have been very annoyed if it was ruled out. Plus Laecelles should have closed down Okazaki far more - great finish, but Laecelles just stood behind him admiring and gave him all the time he wanted to excute the bicycle kick.

Massively improved performance overall, actually some substance and game plan for almost the first time this season, things need to be tightened up though:
Sissoko's a blundering ox - start playing properly or get him out the team, constantly losing the ball wrecking Mitro's chance.
    Colback is a liability
Taylor and Laecelles seemed very fragile in central mid, the sooner we get Mbemba back the better.
De Jong should start imo, his link up play was good and we looked more of a unit when he was on, Perez up front with De Jong behind, and Mitro on the bench.
Janmaat needs to be calmer, less 40 yard shots into row Z and more tracking back.

Next 4 games pretty much determine our season - Mackems, Norwich, Southampton, Swansea.

Remind me of the capacity of St James' Park? Have you only allowed Sunderland 405 tickets?

Win 5 of your last remaining games and you stay up.

Sunderland, Norwich, Swansea, Palace and Villa....

Benitez influence was apparent already last night - they actually put a shift in. Only that one piece of brilliance separated the sides.

If you beat Sunderland this weekend, I think you'll be fine. It's a huge game for both clubs. should be a cracker.

I agree - thing this weekend is make or break for both sides (if it's won) draw slightly favours us in that we only need to match theirs and Norwich's results to stay up and it's all in our hands. They looked better last night - more organised but still lacking up front. Sissoko is ****e mind! Hope he's playing on Sunday if he plays like that!!

As ever the mindless accusation that we are deluded thrown on the table to incite a response, no fan at Newcastle is in any way deluded if anything we are the most pragmatic fans in the top two leagues, having read comments on various social media from London based fans of the big three it would seem that they feel they have a divine right to be at the top of the table and some Spurs fans behave as if they have actually won the PL ignoring the fact that Leicester are ahead and staying ahead. As for attendances we have averaged over 50,000 in the last two seasons which considering the level at which the club is performing is in fact heroic, most clubs in our position would have probably seen a massive drop in attendance but we are if not deluded at least faithful to our club, you don't get any prawn sandwiches in the matchday hospitality either.

I have to say that is people like you who are deluded as you have no real idea of what it means to be a football fan, you actually believe everything the media prints? Anyway there you go an adult response to some childish trolling, enjoy.

Agree about their lack of firepower.

I'm not having that Mitrovic and you're right about Sissoko, on current form he looks a liability.

    Is Cisse dead?

    Did it get a response?
<laugh> You surely are not serious! as TP says, the media and a number of your fans say "52000 screaming geordies" in a ground which has a 52405 capacity and hasn't been full all season and has away fans. It is physically impossible to have 52000 Newcastle fans in that ground as the away fans rule dictates a larger percentage than 1% for the away fans and the remaining seats don;t go on sale and remain empty. He wasn;t talking "football" delusion, he was talking about the 52000 fans delusion. 49325 is the average and 51682 is the highest this season. Great support for a club in the position Newcastle are in, but there haven;t been 52000 Newcastle fans in that ground (in it's current state) probably ever

  15. Rafa certainly had an impact imo. They looked a bit like a Rafa team already... and no, I don't mean because they lost!

Those five fixtures are interesting. They probably won't need to win all five, they need to make sure they beat Sunderland though.

Could you remind me of the capacity of the stadium of light (no not the one in Portugal!)

If you guys went to games and filled those off pink seats rather than act like keyboard warriors on here, maybe the media and fans accross the country would talk about your support, but no thats never gonna happen because you're a bunch on inbreds whith a sh!te stadium and Sh!te fans that have never achieved anything

Shola Ameobi has more goals in europe than you have appearences!

All your top goalscorers havent played since 1950! what has your club been doing over the last 65 years? Your PL top scorer has 61 goals after that, its Darren bent on 32!!!!! Shearer scored that in a season!

Your a pathetic little club and I will love it when we smash you on Sunday nearly as much as when we wave you out the league

Seriously? You completely miss the point I made so obviously you don;t read. I am a season card holder with my son and nephew and I have been since 86 at roker park. Before I married I was home and away but can;t do that since having a family!

The OP mentione 52000 newcastle fans at the game (effectively) when that is physically impossible due to away fans attendance - and my intimation was pointed only at him and anyone who uses that term. since the 70's I reckon, their have not been 52000 Newcastle fans in St James Park at the same time except maybe for a concert

Shola - irrelevant to my post - top scorers, irrelevant to my post - SOL capacity (only 3k less than yours by the way) - again irrelevant. As for the last paragraph - I never make any wild statements like that prior to a derby. I would take a point! (but still completely irrelevant to my post!)

Bournemouth was sold out last home game, and yeah going back to my original post there will be 52k fans backing their team. To be more precise there will be 52,405 fans backing their team, maybe more if you include stewards, coaching staff, club staff.

The point i was trying to make was regarding the atmosphere, it may have looked like I was intimating that there would be 52k newcastle fans backing Newcastle united, but I didnt actually say that did i?

If i was I was you I'd be hoping for a draw, but unfortunatley i dont think its going to happen. Benitez to get another one over big Sam
