Hope not, these two will be good in the future, Forster as cover for Harper next year with Krul getting loaned out, hopefully to one of the teams who comes up, if not a top Championship team.

I would say our best bet is to see if Celtic want FF on loan for another season. And then after next season, when Harper may well retire, we'll have two excellent GKs to fight for the position.

Alternatively, put them both up for sale, and see who will attract the highest amount - Celtic may be willing to pay £4mill or so for FF, in which case take it.

6’7″ Fraser has 83 first class appearances but still has to play for the Newcastle first team in a competitive game.

I think that says it all.....

    This.

One of them will have to go in the end, neither will play second fiddle, but the longer we hold onto them the more they'll be worth if the keep enjoying impressive loan spells. I think Harps will leave at the end of next season, then we should sell either Forster or Krul and have Soderberg or Alnwick as reserve.

At the moment I rate Krul ahead of Forster. <ok>

Yeah says that he has gained experience that may be useful when Harper retires, Krul has played about 20 games in the same time, as he's been sat on the bench most of the time. Lets not forget it took Shay Given about 3 years to prove he was worthy of being number 1, ahead of Steve Harper.

Haven't seen much of Forster but there's not a lot of difference between them both, though Krul potentially will be a better keeper. How old is Soderberg?

Soderberg is only 18/19 if memory serves, and is highly rated in the youth and academy teams as well.

    21 this year.

I'd let Forster go tbh. Krul has Prem experience which Forster doesn't and that edges it for me.

I think Alnwick is 17/18 if I'm correct.. so I definitely don't think we'll need a keeper for another 20 years or so!

    This <ok>

Then next summer, Harper leaves and we make our decision on who is the best of Forster/Krul. See if Celtic will take Krul so we get a direct comparison.

Didn't realise he was that old thought he'd have been about 19. For me Krul showed a lack of experience at times, when he was in the team and will improve by being loaned out and getting first team football every week, hopefully for someone who comes up this year.

This aswell. Seems reasonable and fair but I have a feeling Pard might cash in on Forster.

Keep Forster, send out Krul on loan. Forster is the better keeper - needs to work on kicking as a priority. Krul needs to work on command and communications as a priority.

Maybe a penatly shoot out in the summer - winner stays

I really can't decide between Krul and Forster. I'd rather we kept them both for another season and see how another year develops them, one as backup and the other on loan. But it sounds like Pardew knows that time to decide has run out. In which case i will trust Pardew/goalkeeping coaches decision as to which one leaves because they know the players better.

The positive thing is that however the decision goes we know we have a good young keeper on our books competing with Harper next season. Wish we had this sort of decision to make all over the park!

Agree about Pardew knowing the players better, but if FF has been on loan all season, then I doubt Pardew has even spoken to him...

Agreed Pardew is even quoted as saying he has lost touch with his progress and that they will have to take a look at him in pre-season. That is why I think the other coaches will probably have a say in this as they will know him much better having seen him progress. Like I said I am absolutely 50/50 on this one and glad it's not my decision to make.

Maybe we should take the long view and offer Harps a place on the coaching staff next season, and let Krul and Forster battle it out for No.1.
