I'm normally the first to pull Danny Simpson on a bad game but I thought he was our best defender today, for once in his life marked brilliantly at times and whipped in some very good crosses into the box.

Coloccini was atrocious, literally looked like the man we bought when we signed him, he's not a quick player regardless of what Tash might say and he was found out today, usually his positioning makes up for his poor pace but today he was found out, and I pray to god this is only a one off.

Perch was OK, I really thought he looked a different player today, he could have done better himself on their 3rd goal but overall he looked a much more assured and confident player.

Obertan needs to be dropped, dont care who its for, but I'm sure we have people waiting in the wings to do a better job, the man is clueless on the ball and needs to work to earn his place.

Tiote is not the player he was last season, he wasnt before he got injured and he isn't now, players like him, Coloccini, Cabaye etc.. have became so popular with the fans that nobody wants to admit when they have a bad game, but today, he wasn't good and I've been much more impressed with Guthrie than anyone else in the middle this season.

Vuckic, I agree he had two brilliant looking shots but apart from that he was garbage, he was all over the place, please dont fall into the usual trap of claiming someone is "sensational" or "unreal" because they had a couple of class attempts at goal. I hope he comes good but today, he was distinctly below average in his general midfield duties.

Best, until now I have preferred him over Ben Arfa but Ben Arfa came on today and looked like the player he did when we signed him, still not enough effort mind but better and better then Best has been, I say give him a blast in our next game and lets see what happens, Best is offside A LOT and was awful today, I say again hes terrible in the air for such a big guy.

Simpson had a decent game. Perch has been showing improvement in the last two or three games and I don't think Vuckic was as bad as you're making out.

Ben Arfar was a massive improvement on Best and showed some real class. We can expect better from him though.

Of course it doesn't make a great deal of diference how good you play if the officials have red scarves blowing in their eye's all the time. The ref had to be blind, bent, or not know the rules, maybe all three to have had such a bad game as that.

Best used to win loads of headers. Since Ba became the big man on campus Bests form has certainly died down.

Ben Arfa should start ahead of Best or Obertan. Because he can play on the wing. <ok>

I wouldn't say vuckic was garbage, he was playing out of position and played a few nice passes, he wasn't great but i wouldn't go as far as to say he was rubbish.

The ref wasn't even looking when Shorey handballed. But that doesn't excuse that performance, Blackburn would have beaten us tonight we were dreadful, Perch was at fault for the 2nd and 3rd goal and Simpson was poor again.

"Newcastle, who had the best defensive record this season, have now conceded 14 goals in six games"

Starting to think it was more of a case of Steven Taylor leading by example than Coloccini.

We miss him so very much, its killing him not to play.

    do you think so ???

I honestley believe that when looping crosses are swung into the area, the keeper should be plucking them out of the air or at least palming them away
the ball was so long in the air for the 3rd goal, and Krul hesitated, allowing the ball to drop into the danger area
also after watching the game again on MOTD he just stood on his line for the 2nd

    (ahem, just my opinion)

I agree with players becoming so popular that people won't admit when they have bad games. I've always rated Saylor over Colo. Much more complete defender. And I agree with Guthrie being the most impressive midfielder.

I agree. Any floated ball should be the keepers, only balls that are whipped in should cause a problem

Tiote passes backwards far too often anymore and doesn't use any of the ball handling skills he displayed last season.

Where was Raylor on the third goal?! Caused Colo to chase towards the touch line.

Obertan is not ready to be a week-in, week-out starter.

Colo was rubbish today, I'll agree with that.

I thought Vuckic was fine, although he did disappear for periods of the match -- likely due to playing out of position.

Vuckic was missing for large periods of the game but he wasn't garbage and didn't do bad seeing as he is 19 and wasn't really playing in his fave position.
