Newcastle fan in peace, not a regular on the Liverpool board so expect to get called a WUM or whatever but just wanted to know what your opinions of Carroll are?

I know you paid us well over the odds for him, and he's done little since but what's he been like in pre-season? Are you hopeful over his future or do you think he'll flop and fade into nothingness due to his off-field life?

    Cheers

Still not convinced but still have reasonable confidence in him.

I couldn't really tell you either to be honest. He's been kept quiet in most of the competitive games since joining except the City game. I think he will score some important goals but I feel we also need another option other than N'gog and Kuyt.

I don't care how much he partied as long as he puts the work in to get fit.

Apart from that, he's still young so I'm not expecting *great* things yet, just good ones.

As odd as it sounds I think he still needs to settle, it's going to take a bit of time before he adjusts to our playing style so there's no use in rushing him.

    This.

I've got confidence in him to perform for Liverpool. With Downing's crosses, he should be a good player for us.

    <ok>

I was a huge fan of Carroll at Newcastle and was very happy when he signed. I honestly wasn't really bothered by the fee.

As you point out, off field could really hamper his chances, however if he can overcome this he certainly has a lot of potential. Guess we'll see in 5 or 6 years :)

You say he's done little since! I would disagree straight away, every game he has played in except West Brom he has been a threat, and has impressed me in the pre-season games.

When I said he's done little since I meant in ways of appearances as I believe he's been injured a fair bit or not fully fit therefore not getting starts.

Just wanted a scouse perspective on things <cheers>

No probs, really impressed and looking forward to him and Suarez all season. Those 2 will be enough to scare any defense.

I was really pleased when he signed for us (yes even for £35 million) as when I saw him play for Newcastle he was a real handful and always seemed to be scoring.I used to think that he was the type of player liverpool needed.
Although its not started great with him being injured when we signed him but I am sure he will be OK as long as we give him good service,,just wished he looked a bit fitter.

    Why?

Its his image, his trade mark, and it suits him.

Didn't like the ponytail until he added the beard. Now he looks like some kind of psycho biker...
