I had fun scouring the web for the green eyed monster from our rivals and here's a basic summary which might be worth mentioning.

A lot of fans do seem to think we have done best out of all the teams.

But I'm reading a lot of bitter (wouldn't expect anything else though) remarks about an unsettled team.

Lots of comments about Brucey's history with signings large number of players and what happened to him at Sunderland.

Many more of our performances suffering from disharmony.

How is Bruce going to juggle a midfield of thudd livermore meyler ramirez ben arfa aluko elmo brady. How can he possible keep everyone happy.

Personally, I must admit the last bit does worry me and it reminds me even more about the importance of the europa league. Not sure if Bruce realises we are out because we certainly seem to have amassed a team fit for it.

A lot of it will be sour grapes but it might be worth keeping an eye on things.

We had a strong unit of irish lads at a point, which helped with the spirit. Not sure what comes of it now if most of them are benched or potentially sold later on.

I can see a number of players such as Meyler being pushed out on loan with immediate recall clause thrown in. We are out of Europe and the standard of the reserve team football just wont keep fringe players happy.

I think the loigical conclusion is we'll be tkaing one - or both - of the cups seriously. I get the feeling Bruce wants his name alongside our first ever silverware.

I have confidence that SB will manage it OK, we desperately needed to flare going forward, and now we have got it. In Steve Bruce we trust.

Bruce did some cracking business in that window, if he can get a tune out of Ben Arfa you're in for a treat and I can't understand why Soton blew out Ramirez as he's a quality player imo. Not sure where Diame fits in though, but he's another good signing.

You'll be top half this season imo.

Morning Lads/Lasses, first time poster here. I had to come say hello after your business last night.

Well, you proper smashed the back out of it didn't you?

As a despairing geordie, I was curious to see the thoughts from a Hull perspective on one Hatem Ben Arfa.

I see at least two of you have swallowed the guff about his weight and work rate, shame that, but skimming the board for more by those posters confirmed their wum-ish/bit dim online profiles. Most of you seem excited, quite correctly, I would be too. That's before considering the likes of Diame, Abel H and, maybe, Gaston too (haven't seen much of him tbf).

Truth be told, you've never had one like Hatem before. Don't believe the negativity spouted by a select few either, he's done very little wrong at St James', other than show some passion to play attacking, dynamic football. This put him at odds with the defeatist puppet in the dug out who proceeded to lay the blame for the abject showings solely on HBA (last time you were at our place was around the start of it).

So for Hull, congrats, and enjoy - there are only a handful of players on the planet with this type of ability and I'm glad he'll get to demonstrate some of that magic again. A player who can more than back up all those YT highlight reels, and then some. The most talented lad to wear the Black and White since Gascoigne imo.

Numb today, as like many, HBA was the last thread linking them with what used to be NUFC, or 'NC' now because the 'U' and 'F' have been removed by the owner and manager respectively. Ah well, at least he's in a city I like, got a few good mates from Hull and I always found the locals to be a sound bunch.
Good luck lads, exciting times ahead.

tl:dr - HBA is a cut above, you spawny gets.

This lad was really rated by the Geordies.

It's terribly exciting for us. He needs to be given the freedom to express himself, and hopefully he'll blow the roof off.

Stephen Taylor: I'm a Toon fan... Hull have signed some great players this window... Dawson... HBA... Ramirez from soton. Great business. Great ambition. Same rubbish from Newcastle as always.

Chris Adams: Chelsea for Costa and Fabregas and Remy is a proven PL goalscorer so is great back-up to Costa and we can rest him whilst knowing we still have someone who can come off the bench and score, unlike last year.

Danny Toomey: Liverpool got the best bargain Mario 16m great buy, Hull City great buying, Man Utd great buys but Falcao on loan and all that money, time will tell I guess, 350k a week for a loan player!

    (We're told it's a mere £265,000 Danny!)

It'll be a long season with plenty of games for all. We have a quality bench now (finally) and Bruce won't be afraid to use it to change a game that isn't going our way (well I hope so). Curtis/Tom/Meyler/Snodgrass and the rest will make the new players feel welcome.

Bruce has learnt from his mistakes at Sunderland...in fact he made all of his mistakes whilst with them and I think it's made him wiser. He seems to take a lot in his stride now (even the ****e decisions we've had this season already) and from seeing Ben Arfa's reaction after signing last night I can only think the players really like working for him.

    Great times ahead!

Keith Andrews just said our signing of Mo Diame was the best signing of this transfer window.

I'm not sure why they asked him, but that's what he said.

Having lived on Tyneside for 35 years being a Hull city fan hasn't been easy especially as for most of that time Newcastle have had a much better team ( as have the makems ) however it's always been newcastle who to me as a neutral had the tendency to attract the flair players I had the privilege of being at st James park to witness the 5-0 demolition of man city in the 80s when keegan waddle Beardsley and McDermott were awesome( I was in with the citeh fans)
Likewise I saw the great newcastle team of the mid 90s in their pomp Asprilla n all, so given the ****e City had at the time I could never imagine that one day my team would be viewed with envy by my mates in the toon.
I agree that the regime at SJP have treated the Geordie faithful with distain.
Never in a million years did I think we'd get someone like HBA and I can fully understand how you must feel at losing such a gifted player.
Like most city fans what has happened since Bruce came here hasn't fully sunk in, probably won't do until I see HBA jinxing his way through manures defence !!
I'm off out with a few pals for a beer down the quayside if you see a pissed up fella with a Hull city shirt on beaming from ear to ear I'll buy you a pint

Hmm, my old boss at Virgin was a Hull exile, are you him?

Cheers, but the pint will have to wait a while, I live in Dublin these days.
I'll be watching Hull closely this season though, you've got a interesting mix there now. After the bad times you lot had back in the day, this must feel a bit special.
Have fun down the quayside fella, just try not to look too smug eh?
