**** this operation Premiership, we are now in a relegation battle once again, who would have thought it at the beginning of the season? We can't afford to give Jewell until xmas, he has to go now!!
Not a single shot on target, complete joke. It's one thing to play a right back who cannot concentrate on defending but to not give him any protection and play 4 players in the middle of the park when the opposition have good wingers, it's beyond belief and it's not the first time Jewell has done it this season. Alex Mathie was saying he blames the players but they were clearly given instructions to play in the middle and even if they weren't they are ****ing CENTRAL MIDFIELDERS, not wingers, what did he expect??!! Having said that, I still believe Jewell will bring in the players needed and after that things will improve but by then it will be too late if he keeps up with these ridiculous 'tactics' We can all see we're ****, so just match the opposition's formation and mark man for man, catching them on the break. Jewell seems to just pick some players and hope for the best, no more thought than that. He can bring in the players to address the weaknesses in the team come January or even next summer but that will do nothing to address the weaknesses in his tactical knowledge.
Having said that, I still believe Jewell will bring in the players needed and after that things will improve but by then it will be too late if he keeps up with these ridiculous 'tactics' ==================== Is the weather nice on your planet?
Completely agree with everything you just said. I'm starting to think, I wouldn't mind someone like Norris in the team thats how bad it is!!
And there was me thinking you might actually agree with me for once! I will give you something to agree with: JEWELL OUT! And ptc, I was thinking the same last saturday, I remember when we were a club that let go of players and they were never heard of again but now every player we let go goes on to prove they are better than they showed whilst with us. Garvan played ok for Palace on saturday and Trotter scored two tonight, just think of the team we could have had if we hadn't thrown away all this good talent.
Yes, that's right, hire another coach, give him 4 matches to improve results, and if he doesn't, well .... hire another coach, give him 5 matches to improve results, and if he doesn't , well....... hire another coach, give him 3 matches to improve results, and if he doesn't, well ...... Pep Guardiola, Alex Ferguson ..? They were given TIME and they came through. Why not try it?
Sven Its not just Jewell that needs the bullet its Clegg as well. The guy is just a well intentioned buffoon! The club will not possibly begin the desperately needed rebuilding priocess with these 2 clowns at the helm. Jewell is a dead man walking and so is Clegg. I will welcome the sacking of Jewell as he has been a complete disaster but Clegg is the man that ultimately has to go, otherwise it will be rearranging the deck chairs on the Titanic!
Indeed the you cannot blame Jewell for letting the club slip and ship out all the best players but the problem atm is we have no players who have been at the club long enough for it to really mean something to them and most of them have been in the high of their career and Jewell has brought these players in. When we win we are very good and if we do pick up a scrappy win and hit a bit of decent form I'm sure we will be ok but I'm not sure on a run like we are on we have the personnel to really dig deep and get us a result and I'm not sure Jewell has the tactical nous to do that either, perhaps a reason why he did badly at a club on the decline like Derby. Like you say he's not a tactician and sometimes I think thats a good thing, sometimes managers can over think a situation when really its a simple game, which is I think how Jewell thinks but definitely his big weakness is no plan B when things go wrong. If he came in when we sacked Jim, I think it would certainly have been a different story.
Agree Clegg is a major issue. The CEO should have prevented us getting to this stage but he did nothing because he has no experience in this field of work and couldn't see the signs under keane and didn't know what was needed from day one of the ME reign. Like ptc I can only see this form continuing even with a new manager, we don't have the players to compete, something I've said far too often over the past few seasons.
i agree with jwm last post. something major has to happen. it's not even a gamble is it? if we carry on like this we will go down. sorry to be so negative but in over 30 years of being an ipswich town fan i have never felt so low about the state of our club
Treacy, Le Fondre, Mackail-Smith, Rhodes, Jack Cork...Just a few decent talents obviously hungry for the game that luckily avoided heading our way, it's all or nothing in the January window I fear, all this talk of intent season after season and talks of building a team!!! I know it takes time to build a two season plan type of squad, but we're not, we're just chucking a load of whatever we can get together and hoping for the best!
We have organisation problems for which Jewell has to be held responsible but from being at our home games and listening to the away games then I have to say the players must take 50% of the blame. We dont want to tackle, nobody makes runs, other than carson nobody looks to beat a man, chopra doesnt touch a ball all game. Our goalkeepers have been described as man of the match on so many occassions its a joke considering how many we have conceded. Bowyer who is considered as a bit of an animal doesnt seem to want to tackle - the problems really do seem endless. I seriously hope Jewell (if he stays) drops at least 4 or 5 of our untouchables because the whole team needs a kick up the arse. I would rather the likes of Smith, Hyam, Carson, possibly Ainsley start on a regular basis. We may not go flying up the championship but I think with our own youth at least we could put some building blocks in for the future. At present I would accept being 4th bottom by the end of the season if we done it with a team based on our future.
You perhaps don't want to hear it, or care what I have to say as an NCFC fan, but there are some spooky similarities between are relegation season from the Championship and Ipswich at the moment. A weak board and a bad manager signed our death warrant and we ended up in League One. Moving swiftly to get rid of the dead wood at every level of ITFC is what needs to be done sooner rather than later, Under Roader we invested in players who were journeymen at best, the only saving grace was that they were loanees rather than bought and paid for. When he left we changed direction and started buying hungry players. But it was McNally and Bowkett as much as any of the playing and management staff that made the real difference to Norwich. If Ipswich can get the right people in charge then you can turn things round, carry on with what you've got and you could be in trouble.
