*Hands up* - wouldnt call myself a mouthy know it all, but I had Barca down as quids in to go to the final. Thats not to say I wasnt pretty damn happy when you did win it. Im still not quite sure how though
This is not directed at you, nor those who had Barca as a shoe in, but to those gloating, "your gonna get smashed " dopes who are so quick to criticise, and never get heard of when they are proved wrong. Note you are the only one with the bollocks to reply . Well done. Hope you can support us now in the final.
To be honest - Im far from a Chelsea fan, but I really, really am rooting for you this year. The way the gods have conspired against your team in europe over the last 7 or 8 years has been nothing short of spooky - and whilst this group of players is far beyond its peak they must have thought theyd never get another chance, and I personally would love to see you win it. Dare I say it, you will need a performance as big (and if you dont mind my saying, youll need each star to be alligned in the same way it was tonight) to get past Jose (assuming real get through tomorrow). But I think over the years you sure as hell are owed a bit of luck in this tournament.
I've never celebrated a Chelsea result in my life but was genuinely stood up screaming at the tv when Torres was through. Congrats and hope you win the final.
United fan here, and whilst not one of the gloaters, that was one hell of a performance. The plus points were seeing the smug b&st*rds faces from Barcelona who assumed they only had to turn up, and the final was booked. The minus was the red card from Terry, who obviously thought he was untouchable and would get away with the red card. NO EXCUSES TERRY you let the team down with that! Nicest touch was turning up in all white ala Real Madrid, that really must have p*ssed off the whole of Barcelona!
Enoying my slice. Never gloated but still thought they'd thrash you. I wanted barca to win at the start, but you turned me by the end. Got that feeling once Messi missed the pen that it was going to be one those night. Genuinely one the trully special moments in football. They made once notable chance other than the penalty in the second half. They looked nervy and under pressure and after 3 years of them being lauded to the sky it was nice to see. Congratulations.
CP, my old cocker--I aint eating humble pie tonight! I've just finished a large bowl of jellied eels and have opened a bottle of very nice 2007 Claret! I shall sleep happy tonght!
A lot of wums gotta eat humble pie now. Can't believe we're in the final. Weren't we supposed to get knocked out our group by Valencia and Leverkusen? Then weren't Napoli going to knock us out? And Benfica? Weren't Barca going to run up a cricket score against us?
You can pass on the humble pie Bluemoon, I've had it before and it's not too flash. However, even after 29 years of my life (almost half of it ) living in Chelsea, I couldn't come at Jellied Eels. 2007 Claret anytime. It's 7 am here, Anzac Day, and without being a total cornball, can see the irony in Chelseas' back to the wall, outnumbered, lambs to the slaughter performance and that of those soldiers all those years ago. Hopefully for everyone, we will never have to do that again !! Who do you fancy for Munich ? Bayern or Real ?? I'll go for Real to just edge it. Now that would be a dream come true, RDM v's Jose !!!
I think coming up against the Special One again has a special ring about it CP! Both of them are going to tough , especially, with half the side suspended, so lets party with Jose, and hope the Gods keep smiling on us!
I thought it was an amazing performance and you deserved to get through - the skill of the defending about matched the skill of Barcelona's attacking so it was a very fair result on the night. I was also relieved that the ref did well. It is always a better feeling if neither side has anything to moan about. There were the usual semi-racist comments in the commentary which hinted that 'a Turkish ref' was something to be worried about - but he got all the big calls right as far as I could see. Just a shame that Terry will miss the final, he is a great servant of the club but he can have no complaints on the red card.
