I have today sent the following letter to Tony Fernandes and would urge all true fans of QPR to follow my example: Dear Tony, I am absolutely furious. No, not with that embarrassing defeat at the hands of MK Dons. I am absolutely furious with the so-called fans of QPR who are apparently giving you abuse on Twitter (and possibly elsewhere). I started supporting QPR in 1967 and I can say with some authority that you are the best QPR Chairman we have had since Jim Gregory, and quite probably the best QPR Chairman in the history of our club. You have done everything that we fans could have asked for. You have an exciting vision for the future and have committed large sums of money to start us down that road. The communication between supporters and the Club is, in my opinion, better than it has ever been: regular, informative and, most importantly, honest. Sure, with the benefit of hindsight, some of our new players havenât worked out and some have let us down in an appalling manner. Whether or not some of these transfers could be classified as mistakes is irrelevant. I hope and believe that you are with us for the long term and I am very confident that, in the fullness of time, you and your fellow shareholders will get us where we all want to be. I also sincerely believe that the vast, vast majority of fans are fully behind you, as you would see if you visited my favourite forum, Not 606. It will come good. Ignore the morons (and perhaps give Twitter a rest for a while!) Please, donât let the bastards get you down. Yours sincerely etc
Well said rodders. I concur 100%. We don't know how lucky we are. Tony, stick with it buddy, there's always a moronic minority who want to screw it up for the majority. Bollocks to them. We are QPR, that includes you tony. Thanks for everything.
Have written too. I think it is important we write as it will improve morale generally. Generally in the UK we are too quick to complain and too slow to encourage. Get letter writing!
Why not use this thread to present to TF ...................... so let's collect as many replies as we can. I trust the mods can delete any morons looking to hijack this thread. We are right behind you Tony Fernandes. Australian Queens Park Rangers fan
Well Done chaps! The huge majority of us appreciate what TF and the board are doing but sadly there are a few 'downers' who only ever post or comment when things aren't so good. The same people said Amit was leaving then the Mittals and now they come out of their 'slug holes' over a TF tweet. They know nothing about what happens at the club but make out they do. These muppets are not true QPR fans and don't deserve a place on this board or others. In future i will not respond to their rubbish and hopefully they will get bored and 'troll' somewhere else.
Well done Rodney and RTID. For the record, should any senior QPR member review this message board, a wide range of posters have commented on their feelings about our owners many times over. For the vast majority, their unconditional support for Tony Fernandes and Amit Bhatia is unwavering, regardless of our difficulties in getting off the ground in the premier league. Rs fans on here are in no doubt how fortunate we are to have owners of this calibre. The last thing we want is to go down. The second to last thing we want is to stay up but lose our owners through sheer exhaustion in placating the doughnuts that seem to populate Twitter.
Well done Rodney i have been a hoops fan since 1970 and joined twitter this morning to send a similar message.
Thanks for making the effort Rodney, I'm pretty sure you speak for 99% of us Rangers fans. I sincerely hope Tony reads it and know that we all stand behind him in what he's trying to achieve with us.
great letter rodney & applaud of that, i do feel sorry for tony & he has been great for the club & would hate it if he stood down, can't believe these idiots on twitter who have sent disgraceful letters to tony they are not fans, long may he continue.
I think many people have tweeted their support for Tone after the idiots said their bullshit... How do you get in touch with him apart from twitter...Does he have an public email he checks...
Very sound ideas and I for one would do anything to unite our fan base, I want the drums back. I want the fools exposed and driven out. I volunteer my services to anything anyone wishes to plan that shows the club exactly what the true supporters think. It's time this forum unites and shows the club exactly the potential power and reach we have worldwide if we could direct our energies collectively then we could go someway of rebuilding our fanbase reputation. Its time to respect the man
Hear Hear and I hope that in the next two home matches the real fans show Tony how appreciated he really is.
My concern is that division within a club can take on momentum rapidly and a noisy few can often queer the pitch for the majority. If any proof were needed then witness the scenes at Brighton at the weekend where Arsenal fans were turning on each other because a faction within their supporters held up banner saying it was time for Wenger to leave. Firstly I have to say it was a very well made banner, printed on quality material and with an excellent representation of their insignia (large cannon) and head and shoulders above the ripped out bit of cardboard with magic marker displayed in the loft begging Harry to take over as manager. But I digress. I've witnessed elements within the crowd turn on players, managers and owners. We all have different opinions and sites like this encourage healty debate but that can quickly switch to abuse and offending remarks aimed at all and sundry. Think of those who have tweeted TF with their displeasure lately. Are they up to nothing more than misplaced mischief or are they using the best tool they know to get at the owner directly. With twitter you don't have to have your phone call put on hold, have your letter checked by a secretary, or have an email filtered before being sent for viewing. Tony tweets his comments as he sees it as a way of keeping in touch with fans, a far cry from the Goons who never engaged with fans, but he is opening himself up to abuse. Just look at how Not 606 operates. There are mods who keep an eye out for abuse but if someone wants to say they'd rather TF leave the club they have the right to say it. It isn't racist, it isn't politically biased, it isn't breaking any law to say that you think things have not been done well and approach the person at the top directly to voice your concerns. I would rather there be the abuse which can be confronted as opposed to concerns being dismissed with a wave of the hand as we experienced with Briatore and his regime. You can't knock free speech just because you don't like what is being said. I hope TF is big enough to take this on the chin and his most recent tweets seem to indicate he isn't going anywhere soon.
