Well it has taken them time, but maybe as it says Mr. B. didn't want to talk. It is interesting that the letter has not been written by the Sports Dept. Is this because they know that they will still have to get into the ground?
It is a little concerning that the WO has gone down this road in the manner they have, is this the opener for some revelations they have if the opportunity to speak to the fans/press is further ignored. I am more concerned now than I have been to date, I hope there is a response today and a good positive one that the fans can get behind. That way they will get a much better welcome tomorrow if they "appear" before the game. Deep breath.
A perfectly reasonable set of questions, such as we have been asking on here and on 606 for weeks--perhaps the WO was reading our forums! Why did it take them so long to get round to this, and why is Mr B even now so reluctant to answer? In fact there are no "stock Exchange rules" that would have prevented him from answering a single one of these questions. I like the question about "give us an example of where you have enjoyed business success". They could also have asked him to explain his choice of new board members and what they will bring to that role. Does he actually have a business plan for the club for the next 3 years , and what scale of player sales is needed to make it work? On what scale does he intend to exercise the warrants, and will the capital so raised be invested in the club or used to repay debt? What is the role of GT as Chairman? Welcome to the world of being a football club owner Mr B--it is not a role that can be played out out of the spotlight.
It only says what most fans are thinking. If Mr B really has any business pedigree he shouldn't find it threatening. Whether he has any answers is another matter entirely. Let's hope so.
Hmm it is rather worrying that he isn't willing to speak to them, and although maybe a bit too confrontational, well done to the Wobby for at least doing something to try and get some answers! It will be interesting to see the replies to a lot of this! I'd also like to say well done to Ashcroft et al for some of the pre-requisites htey have included, such as GT and JW on the board, and if Bassini defaults, they revert back to him!!
Well - it is only confrontational as Baz is not talking freely and clearly the WO thought that they had an agreement which would have seen something from him this week I fear it may be too little too late. What is the point of asking the questions now - he now owns the club and can do with it whatever he likes. I would have liked the WO to put the wind up his and LA and Simpson's sails before - but I guess they would have been accused of sabotaging the deal.
i'm not sure why they've left it this long! But it's good to see them finally asking the questions that need answering before we can all stop biting our nails.
Let's face it,the WO has been under increasing pressure from us the fans to find out and report on the questions that we have been asking. They have been unable to get further information and maybe they are suffering a backlash from the infamous clown interview. Maybe they could have put more emphasis on the future rather than the dubious past of Mr. B. I have read in several places that GT was not amused at the way the paper chose to enlighten us. Tomorrow I guess the new board will be at the game. It is not beyond the imagination of the Rookery to ask rather loudly for some answers.
I can't believe the niaivety of so many fans who say it is too early - give Baz a chance. The best WO question is "what are your successes" - says it all
I agree this is something WO should be doing, only suggesting it might be too confrontational because I don't want Wobby and Bassini to get off on the wrong foot as the relationship between the club and the WO has been so good the last couple of years - Don't want it to be a club v paper situation again, with the only news coming out via the web-sire, which isn't always the best!!
Good point - but these questions have to be asked - it is no use having a tame paper that reports what the club wants while it burns
I do agree, and fair play to the Wobby for doing it - about time really. I would just say if Bassini takes umbrage with the Wobby for doing it, they may never answer the questions.... which would obviously be very bad PR for the new people, but we all know how petty and precious some people can be!
About time. A big problem will be the PR company which will delay and spin any responses. I get the feeling bassini is incompetent.u
The thing that bugs me is he was offered to buy Blackburn Rovers (would have cost more than ã440k),surely he must have more backing from somewhere ! family? maybe but unlikely!! He declined Blackburn who are now owned by Indian Chickens and chose watford! Why? what the hell are his motives ,ego trip?? There are so many questions that need answering !! What is his business plan ,where is the money coming from and at what sort of interest rate! I have said it many times before ,this stinks, and I stand by that opinion, unless he gives us some hope to the contrary!
Back on the fence for a minute, given the aborted interest in Blackburn, interest and now ownership of Watford I would have thought that the national press would have sniffed over this looking for a story and as nothing sensational has been reported, you have to assume there is nothing to reoprt about his conduct or his access to the funding. A comment under the WO story suggests also that there is a board meeting today, it would seem fair to allow that to close and then look for the first official statement. Sitting on a fence increases the risk of splinters..........
To be honest if I employed a PR company that let things get to this stage I would want to know what the hell was going on. They could have made a general statement about the new ownership and promised more news as soon as possible. They appear to be as competent at PR as Mr. B is running small companies.
