Anyone watching the Open Championship golf? Just three shots covering the top 26 players on the leaderboard and with showers forecast could be setting up a decent final day...
Lovely interview with Paul Dunne just now, level headed and very humble, just out there enjoying himself, would be great if he could win but I can't help feeling that the 'bigger' boys will come to the 'fore' tomorrow. Day is looking good along with Speith and Z Johnson. All to play for and the English cricketers have the day off to watch it!
Hope Jason Day wins it, he's had a couple of second & third placings in Majors. He's not a knob like Bubba.
Have to bump this to its rightful place for today... The golf is utterly brilliant, even when following it on Beeb text..... Zach Johnson leads by 1 on -15, 3 players on -14 one shot behind, 3 more on -13 two shots behind and 4 more on -12.......Good chance that a play off will be required......
There are many words I'd use to describe golf, Tramore, but "utterly brilliant" wouldn't be two of 'em...
So a play-off it is... Leishmann, Johnson and Oosthuizen over the 1st, 2nd, 17th and 18th. Speith was unfortunate to just lose his form on the last two holes under some serious pressure...
Absolutely, tore the course up for a 66, endured a long wait till the start of the play-off and held his nerve. Somehow the Yanks always seem to rise to the occasion at the Open, it's now well over 20 years since an English winner...
One more year to go then Sky get their grubby hands on The Open too, so it'll be one more sporting event I won't be watching. ****ers.
1...........It's set to become a lot worse now that there is no credible opposition to Tory rule. The new Beeb won't be allowed by the so-called Taxpayer to compete with Sky and ITV for the major sporting events. Oh joy. Watching the same American and global Japanese brands running the same advert 12 times an hour. Just what the Taxpayer wants. Apparently the only thing the Beeb will be good for is to run public information and education broadcasts. When they've sapped all the life out of anything worth watching, we can have it back. Just like the FA Cup. 2........... Am I the only person who took pleasure from watching Jordan Speith fail? Golf is a sport full of rules of etiquette and conduct - mostly for the good. However I think that walking up to the last green and simply refusing in any way even to acknowledge the applause of thousands who had made the effort in spite of the weather shows to me that he is a long way short of what it takes to be a sporting icon - more like a spoilt brat. We found out why during the interviews. Total lack of humility. Full of himself. Noticeable also how he was the one player who felt he should not have been made to start play on the Saturday morning because of the high wind. Too right. Just because everyone else had to take their turn in adverse conditions over the 4 days is no reason why the conditions shouldn't have been set up on a plate for him. And finally, in this rant. To bring the two themes together. How long before Sky dictate the playing times, rules of golf and introduce seeding so that we, their lucky punters aka Taxpayers can watch the same 4 players win all the 4 Majors all the time? I mean who wants to see Paul Dunne, the other amateurs and Yorkshire's Danny Willett mix it with the best? That can't be good for Speith's sponsors.
Yes Yorkie, I felt the same about Speith, was delighted he missed that putt on final 18th, jumped up little ****!
It's been even longer for an Aussie ................... think the last Aussie winner was Norman in the eighties. Really thought Day was up for it, obviously not. Thought Leishmann must have played well to get into the play-offs. Sadly, I was not able to watch any of the majors live so far this year, work fixed that. I'm a golf / majors tragic and would really love to do squat else over the four day period but watch the live golf. Hopefully, one day I will get to do so.
