Oh look One of our dead ducks turned out to be a swan http://www1.skysports.com/football/...nnes-thrilled-to-end-aberdeens-trophy-drought Hands up all the idiots who demanded his little pointy head
Had a conversation with some (non City) mates yesterday about Neil Lennon who is being linked with Norwich. We all agreed that doing it in the Scottish League means little. However maybe Del had to make some mistakes (which he certainly did at City) - the acid test will be did he learn from them
feckless players let down Derek Mcinnes as they had previous and later managers. He wont worry, He will be glad to be out of right now..
One "idiot" here, seems you've forgotten he played a massive part in our relegation to league 1, whilst spending in excess of £2m.. and bringing in players like Richard foster and jody morris at the end of the day his competition is ross county, st Mirren and Inverness, hardly challenging is it? If he comes back to a club in England and does a good job here then Ill say it was a mistake to get rid of him, until then. I'd rather have SC thanks.
Spot on Logger. There's a few on here with poor memories. Jody fu**ing Morris - I ask you. So Del's a success in a pub league - Whoopy Do.
Congtulations to McInnes and Aberdeen. That club has struggled in the SPL for several years, frequently flirting with relegation, so he has done well to get silverware. Obviously the players at Aberdeen are working for him, rather than against him!!!!!!!
He was doing well at St Johnstone, then went back to Aberdeen so hardly knock him for that...................... and ... Ashton gate? well
I liked Del and fair play to him Yes the SPL is a Mickey Mouse league and the likes of Aberdeen and the rest of the also rans wouldn't survive in our Championship or maybe even L1, but you've gotta be in it to win it as the saying goes.
At the moment for Jody Morris & DMc read El-Abd and SC. Every manager can make mistakes. As for pub league, we lost at home in August - friendly v a Scottish Third division side. Who are we to denegrate the SPL when we can't beat teams like Shrewsbury, Tranmere etc at the Gate?
I think he is a great manager, but I also think he made a number of fatal errors with us: Sold Brett Pitman, our in-form forward at the time Bought a number of sub-par players from Scotland Bought two forwards when we desperately needed defensive cover and a solid midfielder. Vastly underestimated the quality of the football in the Championship, especially with some of his formations. Took all the criticism himself, rather than directed it towards sub-par performances from players, and a board that didn't fully back him. A lot of people slate the quality of the Scottish leagues, but I'd say he's probably playing better football than we are right now. If things go their way he could end up with Champions League football next season.
This comment on OTIB is completely spot on.. Del was a nice bloke though and had a bit more character than SOD. That's probably why some see fit to give him a pat on the back every time Aberdeen win a game whilst forgetting just how bad he was for us. Still the fact it was also bad under SOD makes most view Del's reign with rose tinted glasses and conveniently forget how bad it was.
Logger - spot on again. I see that Rooney on £300k a week scored for Aberdeen again. Hang on - Wrong Rooney. He's the one who couldn't hit a cow in the ass with a shovel for Oldham. Now a goal a game in the Pub league. Must be fu**ing awesome.
Yep, I wanted Del out, wow, won a cup in Micky Mouse league.....Oh the competition!! Oh yes, he was one of our great managers.....Doh!
Scottish football may be inferior these days, but let us not forget the talent that has enriched our game in England from that 'inferior' league Yes I'm fairly sure Fergusson, Dalgish, Law etcetcetcetc would have an interesting point to make... Scotland has a history of producing great managers, which is only arguable if you dont know your history. The best player I ever saw in a City shirt came from up near Glasgow Worth pointing out that the best player at our club now is also Scottish
Christ, you have to go back to the 60's and 70's and even earlier to name a few decent Scottish players that were successful in England, says it all.
I cant remember you wanting any of our managers to stay,(or come in the first place) you only pop up on here when Delboy gets mentioned.. Oh hang on, thats not entirely fair, Your brother/lover/Dad/best mate.. Gary Johnson, you always pine for him.
Which in a nutshell is why he left - a lack of support for the manager because we were only winning games by the odd goal. Be careful what you wish for - we have been in the wilderness for a long time in BS3
