What an absolutely brilliant day. I couldn't stop the very lovely Mrs Godders singing all those naughty songs that emenate from the Northam at the top of her voice. It is nort a very dignified sight seeing a normally very respectable old lady singing raucous songs and waving her arms in the air. When we got home from the match we watched the recording of the game on the TV three times cheering our every touch and drinking our champagne and steadily getting more an more tipsy. Anyone who doubted the contribution that Guly made yesterday should sit and watch that recording. He was everywhere and involved in everything. She took some persuading but I finally got the very lovely Mrs Godders to agree that Guly was man of the match and not her beloved Morgan. If she carries on with this blind adoration of Morgan next season I've told her I shall call her Mrs Organ Morgan after the character in Under Milk Wood who proclaimed "Oh Morgan. It's organ, organ, organ morning, noon and night with you." She smiled when I said that and I still am wondering what images she was conjuring up in her mind. No I think I had better not go there. I was impressed with the BBC's coverage which gave recognition to the work that has gone on and the decent honest club that we are. The stack of empty bottles and glasses in the kitchen this morning and my headache are testament to the great time we had yesterday. Well done BBC but most of all: WELL DONE SAINTS.
I agree. Guly was immense, at around 80 minutes he was still chasing from one side of the pitch to the other harrying the opposition. Bravo.
I'm sore, The mighty Saints are where they deserve to be. And..........I was at my friends wedding. Haven't seen the game yet, so will now nurse my hangover with a dose of victory!
What a night. Great atmosphere in the city yesterday. Watching the game again on iplayer and seeing the celebratoins on saints player has been the perfect hang over cure. I'm a very proud man.
My friend was trying to get a meal in a Southampton restaurant yesterday. She was initially told that they would have to wait as the chef was busy, then she was told by the waiter, 'Good news, Saints are two up, so he's willing to cook again.'
Talking about tuxedo's, did you see the bunch of guys in the Itchen in their tuxedo's - they were also at the Chapel Arms having a beer and song before the game ! What a day !
