Ok, time to move on. Lets face it, these two years in the prem have been embarrassing. I honestly thought it couldn't get any worse then the Briatore days but there we go. When we got promoted I couldn't wait to see us on MOTD, how wrong could I have been?! I think i have only watched MOTD about 4 times and one was just to see whether 'Arry was going to give anything away about joining us. What I will say though is that harsh lessons have been learnt , in a short space of time, and I'm more excited for the future of our club from today then I have been for a long, long while. The board WILL NOT make the same mistakes again, though they will back the manager and what a fine manager we have. There was only ever one man who could have kept us up and I don't think 'Arry realised just what a mess we were in. But he's proven, there's money and contrary to how we feel at the minute, there actually is a nucleus of winning side. I don't think we'll go out and spend a fortune again and I don't want us to (though I do think we'll spend), we need a massive clear out, there's absolutely no doubt about that but, if we hold on to some key players, we should definitely be in the mix come next May. The clear out, in my opinion, would consist of pretty much everyone we bought last summer, bar a few. But, I also feel that some of the golden oldies need to go also. The reason I say this is that I feel that there is too much bitching going on behind the scenes. Clint Hill and Sean Derry and even Jamie Mackie have all come out (and very subtly) said that they feel hard done by that they aren't on pop star wages. I'm very sorry fellas, but for all your commitment, you are just as much to blame for our relegation today. Either by causing negative vibes within the club with this so called 'split' or by just not being good enough for the prem. Before people think I'm all for the money grabbing mercenaries, I'm not. But we are ambitious and we need to move on. So that's my first three to go, Mackie, Hill and Derry. The next out the door would be the ones that should never had entered, Bosingwa, Granero, Park, Mbia, Cesar, (sadly Remy, too good for champ) and that would probably be it. I must admit I'm totally undecided when it comes to Barton. Would love to see what we would do playing under 'Arry and he tweeted what we were all thinking after today but I just don't know if I want him and all his baggage back at the club. There's a few signings I would love us to make, but not many. Phil Neville being one, can definitely still do a job and would be just the captain we NEED. We also need to keep hold of Samba and I have a feeling we will. A top striker would also be a must, either Rhodes or Charlie Austin. Someone as a back up who can play right or left back and back up wingers and also bring Faurlin back. My team would look like this. GREEN YOUNG ONOUHA SAMBA TRAORE NEVILLE (c) DIAKITE JENAS TARBS. HOILLET RHODES/AUSTIN bench would include the likes of Zamora and Andy Johnson should he stay fit, Faurlin, a young keeper and say mix of wise heads and young talent. Looking at that team, were not in as bad a shape as we think and all the wasters are gone.
