Is Onouha actually turning into a tasty player? Only decent player (does not say much ) on Sunday. Really worked hard v Chelsea. Solid, thoughtful...not bad going forward. Perhaps we are getting there
Indeed he is. Doesn't look half as shaky as in the past, much more assured and determined. In the last two games he has come in to the center and made two crucial headed clearances, breaking just before Gerrard and Torres. We need to keep biggin' him up and hone his confidence and he'll fullfill his potential with us rather than someone else.
I always rated the majority of his performances. I never understood why so many people criticised him. He always worked hard. Okay, he wasn't the best going forward but for a man being played out of position, I trout he always did well. We should have been playing him all along over that Chelsea sod, just for his attitude if anything.
Needs to be centre back to fulfil his potential IMHO. Getting better where he is though. Good performance
always rated him defensively. Very quick, strong in the air and at least tries. Not a RB imo as you need to be able to attack from RB and he isn't so good going forward.
The point about playing Onouha is that the midfielder playing ahead of him will not have to track back as much. He has good pace as well
Ive made that point as well, it also leaves the LB to attack at will because we still have 3 defenders back to stop any counter. Hes not flashy but has been effective since he came back. Obviously his personal problems werent helping before.
I've always wanted him to succeed as he seems a lovely bloke, but he's had many truly abysmal displays in the past. The noticeable difference now is his confidence on the ball, he seems willing to take on a man and link up with his teammates further up the field. Previously he looked like he was so terrified of losing possession in the opponents half that it stifled him.
Flyer, I still think CB may be his best position. It’s rare enough that you get a player with his physique having so much pace. I don't think he is versatile enough to play RB. What do you think?
I've criticised him in the past but he's rapidly converting me into a fan. He still does little or nothing offensively but I'm now convinced of his speed, he made some very good tackles and blocks against Liverpool (thank God somebody did), bottled up the tricky Sterling in the process, and is looking less timid. Onwards and upwards hopefully.
He didnt look good there before but I think thats because of his situation. He has all the attributes to be a good CB and I think a combination of him and Nelsen could work because players like suarez run rings around Hill so Id drop Hill if the other team doesnt play a big CF.
