QPR defender Nedum Onuoha believes Mark Hughes is a better manager now than he was at Manchester City and that his 'different' methods will keep Rangers in the Premier League. The full-back worked under the new Rangers boss at City between 2008 and 2009 and after signing for him again at Loftus Road in January he thinks Hughes has come a long way since his 18 months in charge at Eastlands. While Hughes spent a year at Fulham after City replaced him with Roberto Mancini, Onuoha struggled to make a first team appearance under his replacement and at the turn of the year chose to reignite his career in West London with his former manager. â You have to continuously improve and Mark Hughes has definitely done that, and heâs a different manager now. â Nedum Onuoha The 25-year-old had forgotten Hughesâs unique way of doing things but believes the squad are starting to get the message and Saturdayâs point at home to Everton prove the turning point they need to stay in the top flight. "In football you have to get better or people trample all over you," Onuoha said. "You have to continuously improve and Mark Hughes has definitely done that, and heâs a different manager now. "He has some methods he always stands by whichever club heâs been at - itâs different to a lot of people and I havenât played with it for 18 months but when you see it again its slightly different to what youâre used to. "But I think people are adjusting. The point against Everton was the beginning of reaping the rewards of the good work weâve done in training with Mark. We are feeling stronger from taking on board what heâs saying." Onuoha added: "The people here at [QPR] have been very welcoming, both at the club and all the fans, so itâs been easy for me from that side. I know Markâs training methods but even if it was a different manager you have to adapt because thatâs your job."
