Well what a difference a two week period does in football. SOD has got us organised, playing football, and looking like he will be able to save us from the drop. I just wish the board reacted earlier and dealt with the poor situation the club is in earlier I reckon we have our mojo back, onwards and upwards.
Was an outstanding performance, sure has given me belief that we could stay up...I was always behind Del Boy, but this bloke we have now is something else, we are going to be very hard to beat for the rest of the season...I'am off to Blackburn on Saturday, can't wait...COYR's!!
Best defensive performance since middlesbrough away last season. My first home game under SOD. Ir we are being honest Watford had the chances to score but missed a few sitters but in all the defence was well organised and 3 of our 4 defenders were outstanding. Not keen on the formation and didnt like the long ball tactics of defenders juat punting it down field. It wasnt pretty at times to watch but we came away with 3 points and our first clean sheet and yes id be happy if we played like that every week and won. Lets get enough points to stay up and then see what he has planned for next season
Why McInnes wasn't sacked earlier performance like that from the start would see us easily top half of the table!
We're not bottom any more, but we're still in the relegation places and until we're firmly out of them I'm not going to waste my time getting excited. Relegated in 22nd place is no better than relegated in 24th, so the fans need to keep pushing and cheering the lads on and the players need to continue to realise their situation and that we need more of the same. Now things will get interesting, and now we'll see SOD earn his money.
The tactics were not long ball. At this point O'Driscoll does not have the players at his disposal to play the way his teams are set out to. Players go long due to their ability [too many touches], or midfield not showing for it short. If I was an opposing players I would pick up Carey due to his ability, let others have the ball because thye are far more probable to go lauch it back to front.
Anybody who has 'eyesight' could quite easily see that it was 'long ball tactics' those players were clearly told to sit deep in 2 banks of 4 and to hit areas early. Back to basics football. This did however achieve what it was set out to do, helped greatly by the fact Watford took their best players out of the equation for us.
I was always backing Del and will back SoD. But we have to remember when Del came last year we lost to Birmingham and then went on a good run. I'm not saying SoD is not a good manager as I could see unity and desire in the players in the last 2 games. I'm just hoping that we don't see history repeating it self and get carried away as it is at the end of the day the same players. I am a bit more optimistic now
The real test will be how we pick ourselves up from a defeat - and there WILL be a defeat - maybe at Blackburn.
So much to take from the appointment of SOD,I wonder where we would be if he was appointed instead of Del who beat him to the job last time out.
Have to disagree O 'driscoll was motioning at his feet when it went skywards second half. donny sat deep played diffferent formations but tried to pass to feet. City at this point don't have the abilty to pass it up the pitch so a few of them when pressured lamp it. getting them more organised is going to be easier than finding skills a few of them have not got.
He is a football manager that wants it played on the deck,I have every confidence he will sort us out. I just hope he is here to see the job through, and does not get tempted by a bigger job. I have a good feeling he wants to succeed here and take us on.
I for one am glad he wasn't. For once we actually have a bright young star for our midfield called Kelly, or Heaton, Baldock & Davies, and I think it was Del who signed Cunningham wasnt it. People have short memories in football Like for example, without Coppell we wouldn't have got Adomah or Cisse Without GJ we wouldnt have Elliott (remember him Shiny) or Maynard Without Millen we would not have Foster (well ok not quite as spectacular but he did bring in others that ran the miles for us)
McInnes signed Foster, but Millen did sign Stead and show us and try to show the board that we needed a central defender when he loaned Caulker. Still can't understand why when he left the board didn't look to get a replacement. And then McInnes showed the board that we needed another loan defender to help us out last season in Bikey. He then targets 4 defenders but none sign? I'm getting really pissed off now that someone on the board don't take the bull by the horn and say go out and find a defender and we will back you to the hilt with the signing.
SOD has done the basics well - that's all so far. It also illustrates how inept McInnes was. Don't understand this crap of - 'I'll always support the manager'. It's BCFC I support and if, in time, the manager's useless he gets both barrels. If the dithering board had half a footballing brain cell between them we'd have been rid of McInnes 3 months ago. As it is we'll still need a miracle to stay up.
