Another day, another twatish Maureen comment. He's lost the plot in the last couple of weeks.

I remember David Ginola winning it the year we won the treble.

    Jose has a point!

    He really doesn't..

If you limit the POTY to the Champions alone, then it becomes the Champions POTY.

The best player in the league doesn't necessarily have to be in the winners side, it's a daft assertion, from a man who needs to give his head a wobble at the minute imo.

That was the most ridiculous award ever. Ginola when there were so many others more deserving. Was it the football writers version? ...

Ok, in the main he might have no point but the year Ginola won it he would definitely have had a point.

He is not correct but the POTY must have made a significant impact on the league and/or the cups. Titles, trophys, finals. It doesn't seem right when the outstanding player in the title winning team loses out to someone who has had no or very little impact on his team's success. E.g Scott Parker. He may have been outstanding in a poor team (he didn't even help his team stay in the premiership, did he? ) but surely there must have been more deserving players....

Think Ginola is definitely the exception!

The only decent point he has is that voting should take place at the end of the season. Not sure Bale would have won it last season if voting had taken place in May, after his usual end of season slump.

Ditto Ginola - he won it cos of that great goal he scored against Barnsley and helping Spurs to the League Cup at a time in the season when it wasn't clear how our year was going to pan out. So the voting was all done and dusted way before our players showed their true quality when it counted.

But restricting it to the champions is just the usual Mourinho amateur psych bollocks designed to try and build up his players after they got caned by City.

You really do hang on his every word don't you!!

He's not saying it should always go to a player from the champions and acknowledges Bale was special last year. I think the point he is making is in a tight year, it should go to someone who contributed to a winning team not like say Scott Parker, or Rooney in 2010 (when Drogba was better, scored more and won the league).

    Keeps you ladies talking though....<laugh>

That's the big problem with the timing. By the time the voting is done, the only trophy to have been decided is the League Cup - no one has any idea where the other trophies could fall.

IIRC, the nominations for POTY open in the next couple of weeks (hence Maureen sticking his oar in as usual). So Suarez or Hazard could conceivably have won the award by the time any trophies are awarded. Wonder if Maureen will tell Hazard to decline the award if he wins it and Chelsea don't win the league? ;)

"If I voted, I would always vote for a player who belongs to the champions. The most pre-eminent player must win the League"

Hmmm...so subtle he's not actually saying what he's saying...

Yet in another section acknowledges the reason for Bale's win. It's really not all that important frankly. But then if Jose said he preferred a cup of coffee in the morning there'd be a load of threads popping up saying he's slagging off tea.

Rvp should have won it last year as he delivered the goals that won the title in big games.

If Suarez scores winners v City And Chelsea to win the title for the dippers of course he deserves it.

But at the moment his record in big games (like Gerrard's) is poor

I cant see any player other than a UTD player getting POTY.

Cleverly is far better than Project "I want lots of dosh" Hazzard

Unless something drastically changes (like Suarez headbutting a ref or biting the oppositions mascot) then he's surely a dead cert for the award. People hate him and continuously say things like 'flat track bully' etc etc etc. But these people would love a talent like that in their team.

This season he's been head and shoulders above any other player - the only truly world class player in the PL to be honest. You have a batch of debatable world class players - Yaya, Aguero, RVP etc. But Suarez simply IS world class, and that is non negotiable ;)

It's a shame the hatred of the player blinds so many people's views on him. IF he stays in the PL, he will become one of the best ever to play in our league.

    P.S. **** Jose, he's a nutter that talks absolute **** to stir things up. Calculated **** <ok>

Maybe it should just go to the person who the most people think has played the best that season.

The problem he has is, he falls over to easy, so he will lose many votes
