Times are hard, just like the heads of most people who keep sniping at the manager... Would we be better off with Di Matteo in charge?? Does the uncertainty you keep causing about the manager help Leeds United?? So get over yourselves and get behind the team...
Good post nashville. Performance wasn't perfect, but it was so much better than the last few games. So time to enjoy this, & then hope we get some more quality in with a number going the other way. In Grayson I trust. MOT
You can get behind the team or you can close your eyes and pretend everything is swell... Its not mate its not good at all. We have a mangaer who i like and seems like a decent chap but thats not enough we need a manager who is bloody ruthless and the players know if they give less than 100% they dont play - Simples... He has had years to sort these issues out and again he loans or buys an attacking player - We need to sort the defence its not rocket science... I have lost all faith in the guy.
McAllister loved Leeds & got the chop for not sorting out the defence. Grayson's had 3 years and still we don't have a defence we can rely on. Is he the only one not to notice that we've got a problem?
Christ Si !!!! My old ticker couldn't take another one of those - and you're suggesting we get humdingers every week !!!???!!! LOL
bring in st ledger from Leicester and we may have a chance! hes up for sale already.. just his 20k a week will prob be the stumbling block.
Today wasn't a good performance. It was very lucky. They got one of the softest sending offs I've seen and then we had the possession for most of game but didn't do anything with it. We didn't create any chances, the movement was poor and the final ball left a lot to be desired. We lacked creativity. Then we got very lucky at the end of the game. The players don't stop working and have a determination which means we've rescued points late on in games, but in terms of actual good performances this season...I mean, getting a lucky win or winning when you play badly is great, but to say that most of the points we get are lucky or late goals is worrying. This hasn't changed my opinion on Grayson or the team.
We must have been watching a different game, Best Fans. We had 17 shots on target to their 7, 16 corners to their 4, 65% of the possession and looked neat, pinning them in their own half and keeping a decent tempo. We could have scored four or five if we'd been luckier (these things balance themselves out) or we'd been more clinical. Today was a good performance, in my eyes. Not sure what more you could have wanted other than goals, and I think it's understandable that we could hardly score when high-flying Burnley were hoofing everything away with eight men in the box. The final ball did leave a lot to be desired, but the build-up play was pleasing. By all accounts Townsend can deliver a ball very well indeed, and you can't expect instant miracles from any player. Becchio's still got some sort of niggle and that's why he wasn't getting on the end of everything, but he still performed to the best of his ability. Clayton was pulling the strings quite well from midfield and sprayed balls onto both wings well. Unlocking Burnley through the middle was always going to be difficult. Snodgrass was always our main playmaker from the wing, and you can tell he's sorely missed. But we did well without him today, and you can't deny we made a lot of goalscoring opportunities and dominated the play. Those are the facts, Rafa style.
We had 17 shots in total, but 7 were on target. I never said we weren't in control of the game, we had the possession because they had a player sent off. And the corners were due to this control and pressure, but we didn't actually create anything. No clear chances. We got the ball wide well, and the build up was good, but the final ball was poor. Townsend did put in a few good crosses, but the movement was poor. I agree that Becchio did okay. Clayton did play some very good passes, switching play. And you summed up my point exactly - we had no creativity and then was down to Snodgrass being out. We dominated play because we had a player more. Please tell me these goalscoring opportunites? We were lucky, in that both our goals were lucky and that they had a player sent off for nothing. Don't let the win mask an unconvincing performance.
Very negative. My view, we dominated possession (65% Leeds 35% Burnley) and made quite a few chances (Attempts on Target: Leeds 7 Burnley 4). No such thing as luck. We dominated and never gave up to the final minute. They could of given in when the Burnley goal going because dominating play and knocking on the door for a goal and then for them to score against the run of play is a real kick in the teeth to everyone (players, fans, manager) but no they continued playing good passing football and making chances. Eventually we equalized and took the lead. All be it, give them a slap round the head for performances like Derby and Barnsley but well done to the Boss & boys today. In Grayson we trust, may 2012 continue like this.
Yes I did. I have never disputed that we were in control of the game. "we had the possession for most of game but didn't do anything with it" " I never said we weren't in control of the game" - these are from my first two posts. But we did have 65% possession for the total game, because they got a player sent off. You cannot say the sending off didn't changed the game. If you read what I wrote, I said that we had possession and the build up play was okay, getting it wide well, but then the final ball was poor and we didn't create any real chances. Which we didn't. We got lucky in the sense that we got two late goals, one an own goal and one a goalkeeping error. It wasn't a very convincing performance. I was as delighted as everyone when we won it late on, but it doesn't make it a great performance. I worry about the lack of creativity in the team.
Before sending off: Controlling game After sending off: Dominating the game. I'd say it was a convincing improvement on the last couple or so games.
TBH the stats on the official site after 29 minutes read 1 shot on target for leeds and only 45% possession so it did 'seem' that the sending off was a major turning point.
Yeah, we were still well in charge of proceedings before the sending off. Had Burnley pinned into their own half even if they did retain the ball a bit, as we did all game. It didn't matter that much that Trippier left the field, we'd still have scored twice I feel. And yeah, the ref was on our side (if not the East-sided linesman), but that's what happens when you have a partisan crowd which wins officials over. That's why Leeds fans are so hated and envied.
