Online dating!

So has anyone here ever tried online dating? And if so, with much success? Nearly all the girls I meet tend to be in relationships (there's one in particular who is amazing) but I've not had much luck with online dating either (admittedly I haven't used it much). What sites are the best to use? Also, in terms of profile information, is it better to be matter of fact or try to add some humour (for example 'I'm a bit of a geek' or "I like football and support Portsmouth (mainly because I'm a masochist)), or would doing the latter just make it lame?

 

Well if you mention you support Portsmouth, that'll be enough for any girl to run 100 miles

 

I've never done it, but know people who have. The girls are apparently really shallow and it's a nightmare.

FWIW, when I was younger I met lots of ladies that were in relationships... It didn't stop me.

 

Never done it. I only have one friend who has tried it, she's bisexual and she just meets people for a bit of fun. If all the other girls on there are like her, then you don't stand much of a chance of meeting "the one" (if you believe in that crap).

Well the one of the girls I met from a dating site seemed a bit odd, she went a bit crazy and apparently blocked me on Facebook for no reason.

Wouldn't want to risk our friendship tbh, even if one of them I would absolutely love to go out with.

Well to see if anyone had any tips and recommendations. I've been single for ages and it's just demoralising.
