I did fancy our chances once I saw the second camera angle where it was obvious he faked it. Pretty cut and dry case of a ref getting it wrong although I don't blame him particularly. What's Toney's punishment, does O'Nien get to lamp him for real? Seems fair.
Should the red card now apply to Toney? Seems a good step in the direction of this was to happen to cut out all this acting sh*t.
Well that's one out of three red cards that this Ref actually got right which is pretty piss poor. wonder how many appeals have been upheld involving other clubs and this Ref.
Can't see the FA doing that, it's far too much like a common sense move to cut out the play acting, and doing something useful and the FA shouldn't appear in the same sentence.
Last night I watch the 'incident'. It LOOKED to ME like their player was impeding O'Nien who was trying to shrug him off. O'Nien MAY have pushed him in the chest. Their player then went down, clutching his face, indicating a painful punch had been landed. OK. The card has been wiped out so that justice has been done, hasn't it? NO IT DAM WELL HASN'T. This sort of simulation is the scourge of the game. The ONLY way to stop it is to punish the perpetrators severely. I would suggest an award of double. So two red cards and a six game suspension. (The card could matter later when that stage of the Season is reached where accumulation attracts further punishment). IF, and I'm not holding my breath, something along these lines applied this sort of cheating would disappear from the game immediately. HISTORICAL NOTE. Years ago the young Manager of Harlepool suggested that instead of sending off a player for a foul, the Team Manger should be punished by a heavy fine. Sir Mat Busby commented in a newspaper that the young man should wait till he had some experience before coming up with such hare brained ideas, (or words to that effect) I do wonder just how much beeter the Game would be, had Mr Clough been listened too.
it is getting worse this rolling about lark, Georgie vs Denmark the same today. Another thing is the Kane 'non' pen last week at Arsenal. how many times does it go the other way when a defender drops down as soon as he is touched near his penalty area or goal line, and the ref blows as the striker gets an advantage on goal !, these defenders wait to get the slightest touch then bang straight down, they should be booked. Revenge will be sweet when Peterborough come up here for the return game, with our new owners in place etc.
