With Maxi Andromain released, Rhys Healy in the wilds of Dundee, Declan and Jazzi out of favour and a number of 2nd season pros released this season we seem lacking in youngsters coming through.

Even the youngsters (20s rather than teens) Slade has signed have disappeared from view with very little game time.

However, is it time to stop looking at L1 players and chuck some youngsters in there? Given some of the lack of enthusiasm by a number of senior players is it time to let those with a bit of hunger have a go?

A number of fringe players need to be moved on in January and I'm not sure now is the time to add more mediocrity to the squad. And lets get rid of KWJ while we're at it.

We need to sign Watt and unless we can find another piece of quality to the squad (MIDFIELD) I'd rather us go with a couple of the youngsters.

Trouble is Remote, from what I've seen the youngsters aren't good enough. They might have more enthusiasm and commitment but that isn't enough if the quality and skill levels are not high enough. Not a youngster by a long chalk but look at Revell as an example.

Agree on KWJ but I can't see anyone else paying his £35k a week for the next 6 months. If we could ship him out we could get at least 3 in from those wages.

The other concern is Slade's track record on signings - Revell, Doyle, O'Keele, Ameobi etc.

Remote - I'm afraid this is all about the present and not ones for the future - and to be honest that includes our own youngsters at the club.

The ones you mention as well as Tommy O'Sullivan and Semi Ajayi are not experienced enough for a Championship season though I believe they would probably have done as well if not better than Revell and Doyle without the expenditure of buying them.

I tend to agree that looking to the lower leagues for a "find" is a hit and hope ploy if you are serious about doing anything this season. Quality is required at this level unless you're very luck (or astute - Slade obviously isn't!) to make the difference.

It wouldn't necessarily take a lot of money - just a few mill and an an equal amount of good decision making.

I won't hold my breath on either.

I wouldn't want us to throw a group of youngsters in all at once.
But what happened to the days when we would give one the odd game and maybe one on the bench. If we don't give any of them a chance how will we know how good they are.
We have no chance of promotion this season so let's put Ajeyi on the bench to cover our remaining two fit centre backs. Don't waste more money on temporary cover. That way we save money and test a youngster.

We've got Tamas for CB cover anyway - no more makeweights thank you Slade. Use what you've got or get in some decent quality.

Tamas is hardly one for the future.
Judging by other signings he probably won't be fit enough until April.

It's where my thinking was headed Hampshire. Pick your first team and a couple other senior pros then mix it up with a couple youngsters.

Neither are slades signings. I'd rather see a few of our youngsters tried and fail rather than slade's signings from outside the club tried and fail. We know the result of slade's signings. We're assuming what will happen with the young guns.

not suggesting we throw half a side in at one go. start 10 seniors and a youngster then another off the bench with 10 to go.

If we sign a bit of quality its about the NOW. If we don't its about the FUTURE because we won't get out of his league this season the way things are going.

I think your second sentence is the point sparkey. I'm not sure they are ready for a season, but neither are slade's signings. The odd game here and there to develop the youngsters. It's as much as salde's signings are getting.
