i totally get why so many people are anti-O'Neill..his aparent lack of passion etc...but who else has had so much success everywhere they go? The bloke knows how to take teams to the next level. Tactically i cant think of anyone better bar sir alex/the special one.

Look at what he did for Villa...He took them from mid table dewellers to fighting at the top every season. yes he spent alot but so has bruce, Keane. His vision in bringing in top top players is fantastic..can you imagine a SAFC squad with your Milners, Dunne's, Youngs etc...For me i cant see how bruce can turn it around given his track record

Absolute joke people who want Bruce out, have you seen our injury list over the season and Bent's departure, not even Mourinho could have stopped our slide. Give the man a break.

Oneil couldnt do **** all better than what Bruce has this season.

O'Neill was the best manager Celtic had in decades. We reversed the decade long ascendancy of Rangers and did it with less money than they spent. We went into European games actually expecting to beat the big teams - Barcelona, Ajax, AC Milan, Man Utd, Liverpool all beaten in Europe under O'Neills watch never mind consistently beating the mid level teams. Anyone who has seen him jump 5 feet into the air after a goal, or get sent to the stands 3 times in one season would not doubt his passion about football.

He is apparently a hard person for the board to work with though.

Can't see Elliss paying off Bruce and then having to give O'Neil millions to spend (which is the reason he left Villa) Ironic they then paid 24million for Bent
Ok so he wants success so do we.
He won things at Celtic but to be honest i think i could win things at Celtic.
It is still a possibility we finish top 10 and then its jobe done and then what will the Bruce knockers say
If we finish 17th then its time for him to go and get O'Neil
If we get relegated god knows where we will be
After all that i am confident we are staying up (kneel down hands together pray)

i dont want bruce out for one second!...all im saying is should it happen we do have options.

Given everything thats happened this season, the blame cant be put on bruce, however he is the manager. Ultimatly it is his responsibility to get results, the buck stops with him

Some 25 years ago there was huge speculation the Ferguson would get the chop at Man U if they lost the next game. They won and the rest is history. I'm not suggesting the Bruce will repeat what Ferguson has done but we should at least support him and give him and the club the 3 to 5 years it takes for a manager to get his team together and playing well.

Responded well after that game though mate, which shows Bruce has something. Sacking Bruce is not the answer to this poor run and at least Quinn knows this.

I don't know if I want Bruce to go or stay, really. I'm a firm believer in continuity but we are failing. It can be put down to some extent to the injury list, but not completely. I worry that some of the signings made by Bruce aren't good enough. What is going to happen even if we win the last 5 games? All those loanees either have to be bought or allowed to leave and then be replaced. A lot of this mess must be dropped on SB's shoulders. If there is a change, yes, I definitely want O'Neill.

Yea right 9 game loosing streak to match last years 14 one. playing players out of position, not buying players where we have none, and don't get me on about tactics, the guy is and will only ever be low to mid table, and doesn't have the nonce to take us forward

I'm sick of hearing this **** of you amsterdam. All you do is whinge on about the squad, if you think you have any kind of influence over the squad, the manager, or people's opinions on this board, you're wrong. FFS. Grip.

Maltesemick, I realy think Martin O N,,,,,,,,,,,,,, could be the geezer, as a self confessed, juvenile, SUNDERLAND SUPPORTER, difficult, hard for the board to handle? but so was Cloughie, and he was M O N s manager, who also was /is a SUNDERLAND icon, geezer must have had a look at Cloughie, and something may have rubbed off, ,,,,, BRUCE HAS BEEN FOUND OUT OVER SEVERAL CLUBS,,,,,,, M O NIEL,,,,,,,,,,,,much much better, IMO, but a bit dour, but better than the sob stories on MOTD...........................................BRING HIM IN.,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, maybe we could get a winning attitude going. sorry Bruce is a loser.

I'm not sure about Martin O'Neill. I'd like to hear both sides of the Villa bust-up before making any decisions on him. Why was e.g. Milner sold? Was Lerner interfering in the playing side and O'Neill objected? Or did O'Neill want to spend too much and Lerner insisted on balancing the books? I don't know.

He's a winner, all the way back to Leicester City, and I'd like him here for that. But I just wonder if he isn't a bit too expensive to run at times. Put a man like that amongst Ellis and Quinn and a few feathers might fly, which wouldn't be good for the club.

I'm keeping an open mind on this one.
