Today marks the one year anniversary of the death of Markus Liebherr, the man who saved our football club. R.I.P Markus, you truly were one of the best things to happen to the club in its whole history and we owe so much to you. Hope you enjoyed the promotion, I'm sure you were looking down with your little camera and smiling that day.
Absolutely. Well done Dan for putting this up. Mods can we sticky this just today? What you did for not just our ciub, Markus, but the thousands of families who needed SFC and the city and businesses who benefit from it's existence, is simply immense. It is very sad that on this day last year we lost you. We lost the friendly faced, white haired, smiling gentleman whose beaming image taking photos at wembley epitomises everything about our club. No stiff, pompous, self-loving egotist politely shaking hands with his team, but a giant childlike teddybare snapping away with youthful enthusiasm as his team have just paraded victoriously around wembley. Eternally grateful for what you did and I hope you can see that what you started is bringing happiness to all Saints. Finally, a thought to your family and to Nicola Cortese; those people closest to you must today above all be hurting more than us fans. My thoughts are with those you left behind. I'll always remember that beaming face with the red and White scarf around your neck. Thank you Our pleasure, sticky applied
What he did for the club and the fans should never be forgotten. Can't believe so much has happened to the club in such a short space of time- I have taken my five and a half year old down to SMS over the past 12 months or so and he asked about who owned the club and why, etc. Although it's difficult to explain exactly what has happened from all time lows to what we are experiencing now-thanks to Markus and Nicola I will have the opportunity to take my son and his little brother to games for years to come. Markus's death was a sad loss to the club, but just look at the legacy he left us...
Absolutely agree. With all of the wealthy individuals who own or seek to own football clubs, we could not have had a better man to not just save the club, but to make it flourish.
Markus, you saints legend. Words cannot express how much you did for our club in such a short space of time. As soon as you emerged into the stadium for the 1st time against Ajax, you were instantly loved. Without you, we wouldn't have a club to support. You rebuilt us, you gave us hope for the future and we will be forever grateful. R.I.P Markus, it was such a shame you didnt see the promotion party (i'm sure your camera would have blown up the amount of pics you would have taken!)
R.I.P Markus, thank you for saving our club You will always live long in the hearts and minds of The Saints
I have no doubt that without Markus, the club would not be as stable as it is today. Saints might not even exist today if he hadn't bought the club. His 5 year plan to get the Saints back into the Premiership is on track with his man Nicola in the driving seat. For this we will be eternally thankful to Markus Liebherr. RIP St Markus
