Not one of the reports I have read have said just how good Snodgrass's free kick was. It was unstoppable, perfectly placed. If that had been any player from Liverpool, Chelsea, MC, MU etc, the reporters would have been creaming themselves. The Telegraph is the worst of all. I have never read a single word in the Telegraph about Norwich that is not, at best, patronising. At worst, it's as if we don't exist. For me, it is the worst of the big newspapers in terms of sucking up to the big boys and looking down on the others. Goes with their general politics, I suppose.
good report here though IMO http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2495070/Norwich-3-West-Ham-1--match-report.html good photographs too
VC, I completely agree that the free kick was a beauty. Does this mean he is no longer a jumped up little prat/asshole that "needs bringing down a peg or two"?
Wow, you have a good memory! Yes, I guess I was rather intemperate in my criticisms of him. I would say that he has paid back his debt to the club. What he probably cost us against Villa, he probably earned us against Wet Spam. I just hope this means he will go back to being the player he was last season rather than the player he has been for most of this season.
"Scroll down to see a despondent Sam Allerdyce" certainly made me smile more than anything else in that report!
I remembered your views on Snodgrass because they seemed so harsh at the time but fair play to you for taking my little reminder so well and we can certainly agree on the last line Incidentally I notice that he cupped his hands to his ears when he scored. I assume that was a reaction to criticism from Norwich fans rather than anything dealt out by West Ham fans during the match? If so, it's a bit of a shame that he felt it was necessary but it just shows how this stuff does weigh on their minds. Nobody should think they don't care.
just as turner did last season at villa after he'd received unwarranted stick. honestly, if people don't think their attitude affects the players then they are living on another planet. it does affect them, personally, and it harms the club these people are supposed to 'support'.
Yes, I get the feeling that carrabuh will only be satisfied when CH is no longer manger at CR. I don't think he's named a better alternative who is currently looking for a new club though!!!
That's 'plagiarism' - I said more or less the same on post 32 of http://www.not606.com/showthread.php/236775-Relief/page2!!! <luagh> Only joking - just pleased to see that someone shares my wishes!!!!
Pretty much any player can hit one like that every now and again. The reason players like Rooney, Toure, Bale get plaudits is because they do it over and over again. Try not to get too carried away, you were handed a lifeline in a game you weren't even competing in up to that point and built on it against a Hammers side who struggle to score and rely on clean sheets to pick up points. It was hardly a virtuoso performance.
To be fair to Snodgrass, he scored more direct free-kicks in the PL last season than anyone since Ronaldo when he was at United. He does it regularly enough!
MOTD were pretty complimentary about it, and yeah there was a point last season where getting a free kick in that position was like just giving us a goal.
If anyone wants to watch it over and over again... please log in to view this image Also worth pointing out Fer's run, if that was on target and JJ didn't take it cleanly, he'd have had an unchallenged tap in.
