The referees are allowing proper crunching tackles in Euro 2012 and ignoring diving. It's getting a bit more like real football, but for some reason the players haven't caught on yet and look completely shocked when free-kicks are continuously turned down.
Long may it last and lets get back to the man's game it used to be.

The ref tonight was really good. He's a rising young star apparently.

Still can't believe Gerrard fluffed his lines at the end.

What a game though, zero quality, 10000% excitement!!!

Tonight's referee was superb consistent throughout, booked people for the right challenges, was the same for both teams. What a comparison to the first game.

Of course if we had lost tonight, overweight pissheads in pubs would of blamed the ref for the loss....

Agree in some circumstances, but in certain matches there have been several blatant fouls waved away, the France-England game being a prime example.

Good to see we may not quite be the "same old England" for once. I think that's the first time I've been proved wrong after England have gone behind.

Agreed. Tonight's ref was very good, but I also think there's been some sort of directive gone out to all the refs, because they're all turning down free-kicks especially in and around the penalty area where most diving takes place.

You mean like the one he gave to Scott Parker when his touch lost him the ball early on so he threw himself on the floor and got a freekick?

there was a wrong handball given against someone maybe parker that was blatantly ball to hand and in no way deliberate.

The only thing that irritated me tonight with the refereeing was Andy Caroll continually being penalised for good old fashioned robust aerial challenges, but I guess that's a continental cultural thing.

With a couple of noticeably bad refs, I've been impressed with them tbh. I had also noticed they seem to be ignoring the majority of calls and dives etc, and I thought most players seemed to realise that and just maybe wave an arm but then get on. I'm pleased there's not really been any groups in the refs faces too. I really wish this would continue in the leagues, because it really looks like once the players "get it" it works out just fine.

Yes that's right. Still only one is pretty unusual after this many games.

Not really, how many penalties did city get last season? We've seen one in eight. And having watched every game I can't think of a time a penalty should have been given and it wasn't. More to do with te players

You need to work on your maths skills - there have been sixteen games.
