Liverpool have signed Plymouth centre-half Lloyd Jones - just days after missing out on his namesake and fellow stopper Phil. Reds manager Kenny Dalglish agreed a six-figure compensation fee with the cash-strapped Devon club and sorted out a three-year contract with the Wales youth international. Jones (Lloyd, not Phil) impressed Liverpool during a trial at the end of the season and Dalglish took time out from chasing his big-money targets to talk the kid into signing. Several other leading clubs, including Everton, had an interest in Jones but the lure of Anfield and Dalglish won the day.
To be fair, I haven't heard much about him. I would suspect that Plymouth's financial situation would have helped us push this deal through. Let's hope he can make a good impression!
