Well having seen the game today i have to say that Danny graham tried hard to break his duck ,he worked his socks off and did his best. We look like we can compete in every area apart from up front . Do you think the attention in the transfer market might move toward getting another striker ?? I dont think Lita will be the answer nor routledge ,Danny graham is struggling to get that first goal and Dobbie is finding it hard to adjust to the pace IMO. Luke Moore and Craig Beatie ,well the juries out on them but i dont think they would be the answer either!! Do you think Brenden is now thinking of another option up front or do you think our front players still need time to gel ?? My own view is that DG will get us 10 goals at least and he is adjusting to the level game on game but 10 goals from him will not be enough for survival, i thought we dropped 2 pts today TBH . That aside very proud of the players today and for DG for having the guts to keep getting in there, but its clear to me we have nothing from the bench to change the game when needed . Thoughts ?
I think Rodgers will wait until the first game or two of the italian season (any idea when it starts anyone??) and see if Parma will playing Borini and if not get him over here on loan!!! But you are right on he rest of our strikers. Jury is out on a few but Graham will come good just needs his first one. Lita and Dobbie looked particularly useless today which i was quite surprised at!!
Managed to watch the game on-line. We did ride our luck a little bit, Graham should have broken his duck, trying hard just needs a little bit of luck. I fact, I think we just need that bit of luck a deflected goal will truly kick start our season. Vorm looks a quality keeper, barging of the season. Any chance of getting Sturridge in on loan?? Fair result I think!!
I think everyone is rooting DG , his attitude is right at least and he will break his duck eventually but the others dont really give us many options when they come on , in fact dobbie looks really far off the pace right now. I think we need another striker to give us a chance of survival the firepower we have doesnt look like it will be enough . Considering DG was up against Brown,oShea and ferdinand i thought he coped quite well which will give him confidence .
Danny boy has admitted on twitter that he should have done better with that header, he also stated that he felt better and more relaxed in the team today, starting to get used to our setup, and he felt that the team as a whole did very well today, and that the goals will come, so let's give this issue a break for a while. The whole team will have to adjust to the step up, and the positives for me are, that our back four and midfield are stepping up to the task well, and Britton had a good game too. Taylor, Sinclair, Dyer, Rangel all raised the bar, and Vorm has to be our buy of the season, so let's be patient and see how things go in September, yes there are some tough games, but we are on a learning curve, I won't be worried regarding our front line till at least October!.................... please log in to view this image
Yes thats fair ,but the transfer window and 25 man squad issues get sorted in the next week or so , by waiting till october it may be a bit late to get the extra options in I think DG will be the least of our problems TBH its the other striking options im more worried about! the rest of the team is settling in well to prem football so not so much major surgery as a little bit of tweaking needed to get the team going well from 1-11
All will be sorted by that deadline Norway, I'm more than happy regarding today, even though at times it felt like we dropped a few points, most Jacks down my local had us down for a defeat! so they will get some banter from me tonight................ please log in to view this image
I hope your right Dragon!! im not slating the players herer at all ,we all knew how hard it was gonna be and how hard it is to score goals at this level . i had us down for a win against wig wam and a point today . Having seen the match im happy about the overall team but our bench is thin. I would like to see beatie have a go ,not a great goal scorer but a scorer of great goals might be just what we need . I know another poster mentioned the same about him the other day and it seems like a fair shout to me . He can play in the hole for 20 mins and be industrious enough to get us something
To be honest I think Beattie should have been on the bench instead of Moore, would like to have seen him on with dobbie , I am always going to back swans players but I think we may have made a mistake with lita , hope I'm proved wrong.
Well you know my view on Lita, jager, so he has a long way to go to prove to me he was worth signing!........... please log in to view this image
Sturrige would be the ace if could sign him, though would cost a considerable amount, but would get Shed load of goals.
Can't see how people can give Lita and Dobbie grief. They come on as subs in a tight game so it was always going to be difficult to make an impact - none of the Sunderland subs did. Danny Graham is a work in progress - I just hope he can find the back of the net soon to kick start our season. A draw was a fair result today. After three games I feel we have done reasonably well, lets hope we can kick on and get a victory soon - starting at Arsenal
I think most of the comments above are fair and well balanced , i take heart from the fact we have kept 2 clean sheets but have got to say that if we still had dorus then we would be bottom by now !! vorm has turned out to be the difference in defeat to draw . This tells me that brenden is good in getting the right players in , lets hope he picks another gem or two in the coming weeks !! so far we have done ok .
Thought DG put an excellent shift in today. Shame he couldn't find the net though to top it off. He did miss some excellent chances but from todays showing I think he is definitely starting to gel with the team and is becoming more confident. To see him track back 50 yards to help cover Rangel when Sunderland were breaking down our right flank was most encouraging. As for our other strike options, I agree, Lita looked useless today. Ive never really liked him but will give him a chance. Beattie would of been a better option. Luke Moore has never impressed for me, seems to lackluster on the ball. On a whole though, great game, very positive performance. Had it not been for poor finishing we would have had 3 points. But then again without that superman Vorm we could of had nothing! A very entertaining afternoon.
PGF you will not hear me giving Dobbie grief, as you put it, but you will hear me giving Lita grief, didn't want him here, don't rate him, and don't like him, or his attitude, so unless he does well, you'll hear a lot of grief from me regarding him!!............... please log in to view this image
DPF - I know where you are coming from. But I assume Rogers worked with him at Reading, so I assume that he will be able to get the best out of him. He did have a season or two where he was red hot - let's hope that form can be resurrected.
I don't think there would be any point in bringing in yet another striker of the same value as the ones we've already got and I assume we won't be prepared to splash out to the next level of say £8-10 million. We were a bit fortunate to take a point against Wigan, but unfortunate not to take all three today. The team seemed more at ease with the new level of play and we certainly held our own with Sunderland. Isn't it great to see our keeper dominate the box and catch high crosses with relative ease. Vormtastic! Mind you, for him to take the MOM award having had little to do doesn't say much for everyone else
Early days yet but I always thought a fast paced skillful winger turned striker who knows how to score ala Thierry Henry would suit us in the Prem and provide that extra cutting edge......is it just me or does anyone else think a Mr Sinclair is worth a shout in that role. We have Sturridge who can play on the left.
