If I had to pick a negative from today, it's got to be Szczesny. I'm starting to lose that major confidence I always had with him, his kicks are as dreadful as ever, I don't understand why they haven't solved that yet, and why he continued to give such bad lax kicks. And also the first goal was quite a bad fabianski type fumble, he should've just kept a hold of the ball rather than choosing to drop it.

The fact is, is that this isn't just a recent bad performance, but anyone's who's honest, will see that Szczesny has had a dip in form over the past few months, he even admitted he fades out of games sometimes, and Wenger back at the start of the year was even saying his level had dropped a bit.

Based on today's performance, he certainly didn't warrant a start ahead of Mannone, who for me, has looked much sharper.

I'm hoping Szczesny picks up his levels and confidence, because when he's on form, he's one of the best goal keepers out there, but at the moment, he's not showing it.

Agree, his not on his best form. But he is still a top young keeper and a very confident player. I think he'll come good again, but I have to say that it's a good thing that Mannone is pushing him. It will keep him on his toes <ok>

As you say, he's a very confident player, but for some reason, I think he's low on that confidence and arrogance he usually possesses, he needs to regain it. I didn't like the feeling that I was nervous when the ball was around him or he was getting tested, that's something I've barely had to feel with him in goal for a long time. We got some big games coming up, those are actually the better games, for a goal keeper like him to pick his confidence levels back up.

WS stopped progressing. Looks like he needs some competition.

He's just getting over some injuries, so maybe it's affecting his confidence a bit. And he's still learning.

He'll come good, he is a top Keeper <ok>

I don't see it as a case of him coming good, i already know he's world class, and when he was on top form, I was calling him the best goal keeper in the league, ahead of hart and whoever. He just needs to get that confidence back, and realise he's the number 1 now, no lax performances, he has to be at a top level week in week out, just like he was before, when he was trying to prove himself to us.

On the upside, apparently last time this result happened, you won a trophy, and we finished 8th.<ok>

More irony, the last time this result happened, and we won a trophy, that trophy win was against you as well, in the FA Cup final in 2003, we won 1-0, I believe to a Robert Pires goal.

    :-D.

The 6-1 victory over you came right after our 3-2 defeat to Leeds United (at home) which ended any hopes of us winning the league for that campaign, and crowning Manunited the champions.

I remember that day when we lost 3-2, was depressed as hell!!!!! What made that season painful was that we had the league in our hands, 2-0 up against Bolton, blew the 2 goal lead, and the title was back in Manunited's hands.

The pain of that season drove us on to go unbeaten in the next though! :-D. So it worked out for the best.

    Anyways, history lesson over.

Goalkeeping errors are always magnified because they're usually crucial.
The fact that the mistake came at 4-0 when the game was already done I can forgive him, it may still have been the 1st half but complacency and arrogance can creep in, doesn't make it right but it does happen.
I've always thought he would make an awesome keeper and a couple of misplaced kicks and a mistake that led to us conceding our first goal of the season halfway through game 4, isn't enough to concern me.....

I would rather he mistakes his mistakes in the circumstances such as yesterday, where there was no pain, and learn from them for the bigger games

You win 6-1 and there is a negative? Guessing you are a glass half empty type of guy <laugh>

Seriously though they do say that inexperienced keepers tend to lose concentration when they have had nothing to do

Choose any keeper in the world and you could pick out an incident where they fluffed it. Szczesny is not immune to it either, but he's already proved he's got what it takes at the top level, so I'm not too concerned. I think the attention his mistake is getting over the goal against Soton will act to sharpen him up <ok>
