I was in Carlisle a few years ago Chairboy Jock. My son was doing a sponsored walk with his mate from Lands End to John O'Groats and we met there for a meal and drink. Really nice pub in the main street. It was massive and I seem to remember the first floor was toilet rooms (very smart). Forget the name of the pub but would know it if you said it. What amazed me was, it was a Sunday and the street was just pouring with young people and the pubs were crowded out. A really lively place. Being an ignorant southerner it completely surprised me that northern towns were so lively. An eye opener.
