As the next game is at home to QPR, I wondered who had scored only one goal for the 'Orns. The ones that immediately spring to mind are Lloyd, Lee Hodson, Andrew Taylor plus the 2 keepers - Steve Sherwood and Billy Biggar who both scored at Coventry, 75 years apart (1984 and 1909).

    Anyone else spring to mind?

Yup - first match in the top flight.

This clip doesn't really show it fully http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C8i_oP6hYhY&NR=1 but I remember it being struck from the halfway line right by the touchline - lmao at the keeper's reaction, plank that he was.

Vince McNeice scored 1 goal in 259 appearances

Not springing to mind - more like slowly dredging up, how about Paul Miller and Peter Nicholas.

This is a WO picture from 1960 in it you can see the players that won promotion for the first time.

In the back row is Vince McNiece who was in the midst of his National Service and couldn't always get leave to play.

I should've remembered the Pat Rice goal - the free-kick was on the touchline, right in front of the part of the Family Enclosure nearest the Vic Road end where my family sat (what was then the Iveco ad board was just behind us). After he'd taken it, he turned round in disappointment and let out a growl of frustration (that's what it sounded like to my 9 year old ears, but I think it was more likely to have been a swear word). Then came the cheers which gradually made their way around the Vic as each area realised a goal had been awarded. He only realised he was the scorer when the rest of the team were heading in his direction.

Peter Beadle, Julian Alsford and Charlie Palmer - mind you they only made a handful of matches between them!
