Greetings

I write a match by match review/preview, from a green perspective, on the Argyle fan site Pasoti called One Game at a time . Obviously the Hull game is up next and I have provided a link.

https://pasoti.co.uk/threads/one-ga...he-pasties-hull-city-a-september-30th.125172/

It aims to be tongue in cheek but with some historical relevant information so any factual errors please let me know and I'll correct. We a re friendly lot so feel free to visit...best to register if you want an ad freer experience...

Should be an interesting game today....we have some momentum but so do you.....our away form is our Achilles heel but when we get it right we are potent ....

I did the Plymouth to Hull by coach in the seventies for the FA Cup tie....so thank goodness the squad are flying up!

All the best for the rest of the season. Hopefully Leroy won't be too traumatised after what we did to Derby last season..he was one three fgames later .

- "Miraculously they managed to escape a descent to the bottom division.."
We were in the bottom division, in bottom place, 6 points adrift at Xmas, with relegation to non-league and bankruptcy looming. 98/99, the 'Great Escape' season. https://www.hulldailymail.co.uk/sport/football/hull-city-great-escape-memories-2675233
The climb from 'Division 4' to the Premier League, and the achievement of Ian Ashbee captaining us through that climb in all 4 divisions is surely also worth a mention.
Good piece though. Good luck after today.

Enjoyed reading that. Thanks.

One of the comments points out that you got Aaron Connolly's name wrong.

Totally forgivable.

What is less forgivable is that you spelt Ken Wagstaff's name wrong.

As we used to sing :emoticon-0159-musicThere's no 'e' in Wagstaff.:emoticon-0159-music

No, hang on. It wasn't that. It was :emoticon-0159-musicWaggy, Waggy, Waggy. Oi, Oi, Oi.:emoticon-0159-music

I'm neutral towards Plymouth - about as good as it gets for other clubs.

Used to fear/respect the Tynan - although, he lagged behind Keith Edwards in the all time charts.

"For many years the main rivalry between Argyle and Hull was which of them would be the one to lose the moniker of the oldest City never to have played topflight football."

I believe it's the biggest city not the oldest.

Also the history was good but you missed out the two promotions in the brief 80s renaissance under Don Robinson.
