Ingurland now has the highest ever rate of booze related liver disease.

    Serves them right, smug muthas.

If you chucked a load of livers in your swimming bath would that constitute a Liverpool?

    I'm here all week folks.

Highest ever rate in relation to English liver disease cases historically, or highest ratio in the UK?

At least the English live long enough to develop liver disease, the sweaties have usually carked it from heart failure before they destroy their other organs on Buckfast and deep fried Mars bars!

Premature death through over eating, smoking and drinking is no joke but at least you get to eat what you like and get sh*t faced until you keel over.

And GC is full of Shiites (typo)

any way - back on topic
Given the references to alcohol dependence by GCers, I'm surprised that a lynch mob hasn't been formed to descend on Downing Street after the announcement of the introduction of minimum pricing for a unit of alcohol. The Government are trying to claim that it will save lives ( I think they meant livers ) - because people will drink less. I'm sure there might be a temporary drop in consumption - a bit like when petrol prices rise - but it won't be long before current levels of drinking resumes.
I can't be the only person who sees this as another form of taxation ? Cheers everybody.<cheers>

How many people actually stop drinking because they can't afford the next one?
As you say, it's just taxing the poor, as usual.
