Too far back for me, I don't remember any of those players....<whistle>.......<laugh>

Seriously though (and I may be biased here), I thought Osgood's goal which was actually judged as 6th was the best - huge skill to create a goal from nothing.

Never mind the defending, what about the haircuts, or lack of them. And the pitches?

Don Rogers moustache, 1970's porn star.

John Pratt is my choice for numero uno.

Back in the day when you got an hour for match of the day on BBC on a Saturday night and an hour for the big match on a Sunday.
If you were lucky, there would be a mid week cup game SHOWN LIVE :emoticon-0104-surpr.

There are some fantastic 70’s football excepts from the Big Match on YouTube.

I recall in the early 70’s MOD occasionally used to show 2 games; one from the 1st division and then a Welsh game mostly Cardiff with Idwal Robling commentating.

Now that's a blast from the past. Idwal Robling. He won the MotD competion to find an extra commentator for the 1970 Mexico World Cip.

He lived at Malpas, Newport and my brother went to school with his son.

Yes BBC sometimes replaced their second MotD game with a Welsh match with Idwal commentating. Very frustrating when it was a Swansea or Wrexham game instead of a top Div. 1 game.

ITV did a similar thing on Sundays with Soccer Sunday with Hugh Johns commentating replacing The Big Match.

Wasn’t it Bob Symonds as Hugh Johns did the Midlands games?

May well have been Bob also Nin but I'm pretty sure I recall Hugh commentating as well as hosting the programme. However, my memory can be selective from time to time. <doh>

Mr Blue Sheep, I am in Zimbabwe and travelling tomorrow......can I place my prediction here for Saturday. I am going for an ambitious 1 1 draw with Paterson notching for us. If I see he's not playing or find a better scorer, I will amend as appropriate if I get the chance. In all honesty, I don't think I've predicted a scorer in five years so maybe it doesn't matter who I choose.
