Taken from todays Echo. SULLEY Muntari insists Jordan Henderson has lived up to the hype surrounding Sunderlandââ¬â¢s coveted midfielder. Muntari has partnered Henderson in central midfield for each of his four outings for the Black Cats since arriving on loan from Inter Milan in the January transfer window. Ghana team-mate and Sunderland record signing Asamoah Gyan told Muntari about Hendersonââ¬â¢s potential while the Champions League winner was still plying his trade in Serie A. And the 26-year-old duly watched Henderson in action when he made his senior England debut against France last November. Ex-Portsmouth man Muntari (pictured, inset) has been even more impressed by working alongside Henderson in the flesh and believes there is plenty more to come from a player who has started every Premier League game for Sunderland this season. Muntari told the Echo: ââ¬ÅJordanââ¬â¢s a great player ââ¬â a good young player who has a lot of ambition to do well
Anyone who describes Jordan henderson as "useless", "rubbish" are basically describing themselves. Yes he has had poor games but he has also had great games, West Ham, Chelsea, Blackpool. People forget hes only 20 years of age and if we had a fully fit squad he would not be playing as many games as he has been but at the minute theres no much cover. He will develop and develop under Bruce and one day proove the people that knock him wrong. He is obviously aware that some of our fans absolute slate him but no doubt he will use this as motivation for the future. Keep up the good work Jordan.
I do think that the lad has fantastic potential, but the fact is that he hasn't cut the mustard as yet in the central midfield role. In my opinion, his best performances have all came when he has played in the wide midfield role.
Jordan has tremendous potential..mainly as a right-midfielder.That is his role,in my humble opinion,as recently he has been doing a job for his team, out of position.Everyone should stop knocking the lad....his class will prevail.I just hope that Sir Alec does not poach him in the close-season!!!
I like Jordan but if/when someone bids for him and if its a decent offer 15-20m+ IMO we should accept. My reason for this is Jordan has potential to be a good player but Brucie has proved he can work wonders in the transfer market (Sess 6m!!!). As we have seen Jordan has been off the boil abit this season and IMO it would be better for SAFC now if we took the money on offer If I was Brucie I would take the money if a bid of that value comes in and sell Riveros and bring in Muntari, N'Zogbia and another central midfielder someone who will compete with Catts and Muntari for a start not gunna name names but probably someone from oversea's. Would make us stronger IMO as we push for Europe
come on poolie, you love to name names... in all seriousness, given we don't know of any concrete bid we can't say, but every player has their price. the deciding factor for me would be whether or not the player wants to leave, and i think henderson would want to stay, at least for another season. for those saying take the money, think what he could be worth after another year, playing mostly in his best position, and not relied on week-in-week-out. the truth is he hasn't been doing the business lately, but i don't take that as reason to just take the money and run. i genuinely feel he could be a star, and i'd love to see at least the start of that with us. i think he'll be a man united player within three years, but i also don't think he will move this summer. plus, we don't need the money, and we can't play a cheque for ã20m in our midfield.
Spot on Billy. It's not all about money.Jordan Henderson has massive potential and even now would go straight into Man utd/City or Chelsea's first eleven. Fact. As the cestriamackem threaded last week threre is enough ****e to criticise without banging on at Jordan all the time.
Yer mate if he doesn't go I won't be disapointed I still like the lad but if we land N'Zog and Muntari if not more midfielders does the lad merrit a regular spot competing against them 2, Catts and Sess also seems to me as though Sess will play Right Mid for us obviously football is a squad game nowadays you need more than 11 good players. As I said I like the lad but the money being quoted ther is better available and for less we have proved this with the signing of Sessegnon and Muntari if we take up the option which will come down to wages even the toon has proved this with Tiote and Ben Arfa. There is top class players overseas to be had. Haha just for you mate al name a name I would have Ever Banega at the SoL anyday of the week, class player
muntari rates henderson, so does saf, so does cappello, so does steve bruce and so do i, but if i take myself out of the picture, surely all these experts cant be wrong, steve bruce will not sell young jordan as its the likes of him, who are the future of safc. although muntari states he rates henderson he must be a bit nervous as its the likes of him that will keep sully out of the team especially if we get a top class left midfielder. n.zog catts sess henderson anyone catch my drift
I'm also a hendo fan but can see that it my end up where bruce has no say. If this happened, given the correct compo I don't think that it would be the end of the world, bruce has a nack of buying quality for cheap (not everytime granted) and so could end up with the finished artical and a tidy wedge rather than what hendo offers now...... work in progress.
poolie, you not think we may look to line up 4-5-1 next season?? bruce has seemed to hint at that recently, and i can see welbeck (if we get him) coming in from the left, so i can see sessegnon playing off gyan with two industrious midfielders in the middle (two of catts, meyler, muntari), and henderson or a.n.other on the right i get what a lot of people are saying, that bruce could work wonders with an extra ã15m-ã20m, but short has promised to back him anyway, and just because we were to get that kind of cash doesn't guarantee that bruce would bring in say two sessegnons, or a player twice as good as sessegnon. he could have a 'mare and bring in eight angeleris!!
If you were Steve Bruce would you have your nose straightened? you'd have to wouldn't you? Sorry for going off topic. To be fair to Jordan, he's been asked to do a job that doesn't come natural to him, he's not a ball winner, he doesn't break up play and he doesn't really unlock defences with a killer pass either. But put him in his preferred position and he becomes a different player. If you put Gyan on the left wing he'd probably be ****e but that's not why we bought him and centre mid isn't where Henderson belongs either.
if i was steve bruce i'd tell my daughter to stop dating a bent guy, cos he'll soon ditch her once he finds another manager daughter who he thinks will further his career
