What's the best rifle you've ever used? Personally, I thought the SLR was brilliant but a bit cumbersome. The early SA80's were ****e but they've apparently ironed out all the problems now. My favourite was the Lee Enfield .303. Absolute man stopper. I 've seen it break mens shoulders just off the kick.
Don't like guns much. A few of my mates went to a firing range on Koh Samui when we were over there. Fired Uzi's, sniper rifles all sorts of man killing machinery; they loved it. Not my thing at all.
Only fired the SLR when i was in the TA, quite enjoyed the experience. I was in the Artillery at South Shields so we played with bigger guns, ones that really went ****in bang!
I was in the Air Force and we had to do the compulsory yearly trip to the nearest range, where we only ever fired the SLR.We had to fire a full magazine from the following positions, standing, kneeling and lying down. So I guess this was the best I ever used (even though the only one!)
SLR was the best. Favourite weapon though had to be the GPMG on SF mode. Although the 81mm mortar took some beating for what it could do
The SLR was too big and heavy, SA80 and L85 did a job and were fun to fire on automatic. Fired some American rifle out in Saudi that was fun and accurate, no idea what it was called though.

I like the SLR, but the Sterling was great fun. Hated the old .303s though. Never served in the regulars, but went all the way through the cadets.
I was completely **** when it came to firing a weapon. Trained on the SMG which was ****. Only ever fired the SLR twice then onto the SA80. The problem I had in my job, was that there was never enough time given to weapon firing, more to weapon handling, making safe etc. When we did eventually have a range day, I couldn't hit a barn door from 50 yards never mind a target from a 100 yards.
i usually got just over 2ins grouping at 1,000yards without scope, favorite scope was a tasco 4x40 wide angle oh and was on the ranges once a month, and also at yantlet in the Thames estuary for demolitions and big bangs mainly with pe4
bushmaster 25-30mm cannon not a high rate of fire 180rpm but hit the target once and lock , no matter what the sea conditions day or night ,deck mount with battery back up giving another hours combat time if ships power fails, can be dropped crated at sea and fitted very rapidly.
