Joe ***an was more than a glorified copilot. He validated the Liverpool Way. On the 10th anniversary of his death, Gregg Roughley argues that Liverpool's second European Cup-winning manager should be more widely appreciated: http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/blog/2011/jun/30/joe-***an-liverpool-manager-remembering
Joe ***an is the first manager to win a Domestic and European Treble in 1984. Its however never mentioned, but the Govan Gobs gets mentioned continuosly. He was according to many as the brains behind the boot-room.Most people thought it was Bob Paisley, but this man was just as good if not better and was a vital cog in the team behind the team.He as the OP said more than one of Shanks' co-pilots.
The mancs always trot out the fact that it was only the league cup, not the FA cup, but I don't see them doing this feat very often, themselves. ***an succeeded where Moran failed, so to question ***an's abilities is a sign of ignorance. This was a very good article.
