Reports going around that wenger has been encouraged to buy one big name player for a fee in excess of £25mil. REALISTICALLY who would you like that player to be if true. I would have said falcao but something tells me hes way out of our reach considering how much athletico bought him for. That ruled out im not sure but if we had any money in reserve after that i would definitely buy mateo kovacic of zagreb.

Think Falcao would be a bit out of your price range, think you'll need an arteta replacement soon. Although who that is I don't know!

We already have Giroud (in terms of style).

It will more than likely be another midfielder.

I agree that we will need to think about someone to take on Arteta's role in the next couple of years and / or a Diaby type of player. I think Diaby has got a future still at Arsenal, but I don't think we're ever going to be able to rely on him for a whole season.

Joao Moutinho, 26, central midfielder, plays for Porto and Portugal, was one of the best players at Euro 2012, and thinks Spurs are sh!te: http://www.tribalfootball.com/node/3571881 . Could cost ~25 million.

In terms of a more attacking mid, Christian Eriksen or Gotze.

Just because we have the cash we don't have to spend it, personally I'd prefer one of the youngsters we have to fill the gap any £25m player can.
The day we start paying that sort of money for players is the day we drag ourselves down the levels of the chequebook clubs IMO

I think a top striker would push us to the next level.

With Carzorla, Wilshere, Arteta, Diaby, Ramsey,Roiscky, Arshavin I think our midfield options are good enough.

I wouldnt turn down a TOP player like Goetze though.

    1. Radamel Falcao (No offence to Olivier Giroud, but this guy is on another planet in comparison)

    2. Joao Moutinho (Just to annoy spurs, and he's a quality player to boot)

    3. Mario Gotze/Marco Reus (Either would do)

If it's likely to be a midfielder or a centre forward then i would maybe put a bid in for Fellaini, i'm a huge fan of his and despite his obvious physical attributes he is sound technically and good with the ball at his feet, i think Falcao is too expensive for us and would llorente really leave bilbao? There is no need to sign a player to play in the whole as we have cazorla and diaby and wilshere are getting back to full fitness, we also have coquelin frimpong and arteta to play in the holding position not to mention tomas rosicky, does anyone know how long he will be out for?
Maybe Huntelaar? i think his contract is up at the end of the season anyway, could be in with a shout, but tbh i wouldn't be surprised if wenger went and bought 3 or 4 players with the £25m all of which im sure will add something to the team.

    Mr Cristiano Ronaldo.......oooooh yeah .

I wanna see a REAL strike threat up front.

Not some " maybe good enough lets all hope " frontman .

Robert Lewandowski would also be acceptable.

If you read the whole article it is quite interesting that it looks like it is actually only now that funds are starting to be freed up and we are starting to see the real benefit of our stadium move and financial strategy since we arrived at the Emirates.

And i don't mean we haven't had any money availablt to spend, but that we are now entering a period of time where Arsenal will be able to compete on signing the real top talent, rather than just the 10-15mil 70k a week players (not that there aren't plenty of top players in this bracket).

If FFP is enforced properly then we will be in a very strong position. And it looks like the off the field stuff the Board have been doing has actually all worked out pretty well. Credit where credit is due and despite there tight approach i do think they have been working towards putting us in a position to compete properly.

Imagine if we are able to bring in a top player or two in January!
