    A long long time ago.......

We were beaten in the league by a team we were facing in the FA cup the next week.
That next week the lads put in a hell of a shift and eventually took the FA cup game 2-0, one of the goals scored by our LB.
Meanwhile our League form was improving at the same time and the buzz around Roker Park had to be seen to be believed.
A couple of weeks later we had to play Arsenal in the FA cup, A certain M. MacDonald said at the time we would be embarrassed and hammered by the Arsenal.
We went on to win against Arsenal 2-1.

    The year was 1973.........

I hope for you young lads and lasses (Including my son. )that have waited for any form of silverware over the years, this may just be our year.
Watching your team lift that famous old cup is beyond any words I could attempt.
What I will say is, it took many weeks to come back down to Earth.

    HAWAYYYY THE LADSSSSSSSSS!

As an aside I fancied the 2-1 again and had £50 at 10/1 . (Bloody Arsenal never looked like scoring!)
That free kick VP had with 30 seconds to go I'm ashamed to say I hoped it went in.
But wasn't broken hearted it didn't as I took Sunderland for £100 at 2/1. :)

Sunderland's odds dropping now to win the cup.

Down to 7/1 after our win against Arsenal.

    I have us at £100 at 14/1.

Having watched Stoke and the Spuds today, neither of them have me worried with what's on show.
And I think at the present time the Spuds are favourite to win the cup. :p

Away to Everton. Tough game but should be a close one. Draw away followed by 1-0 at home.

I have decided we will win it 3-1 mate, the way MON is going, he could make me a very rich man. :)

We had hard games in 73 and were written off nearly every game by the experts at the time.
