    On This Day In History.

    On NUFC.com's This Day in History page there's a mention of Charlie Wayman who played for us way back in the day.

    It's rather odd that Roy Bentley was introduced to the crowd at Chelsea yesterday because I've got a programme with the forward line up ( in the days of the old 2,3,5 formation ) of , Wayman. Shackleton. Bentley. Milburn. Walker. Walker was a winger ( Scots ) but the other four were England class centre forwards.

    A differenent approach to the game when it was very much a case of goals win matches.

    The best formation I've ever played in was a 4-5-6. It may explain why we won all the 7-a-side tournaments...

    Unfortunately, the organizers got wind of our scheme and said we could only play with that many players if half of them were girls...

    I was rather busy in goal with 4 young girls playing in defence

    Can see where it might be the editors of the red tops that cause the trouble and not the reporters.

    I was good friends with Charlie Wayman's grandson Lee all through school...He was ****e at football unfortunately!

    His nursing home was about 2 minutes from my house.
