The British ocean liner SS Vestris sank in the western Atlantic Ocean with the loss of 111 lives. There were 13 children on board. Tragically none survived.

1919 The first flight from England to Australia started at Hounslow, with Ross and Smith in a Vickers Vimy. They landed safely on 13th December 1919

1944 The RAF launched 29 Avro Lancaster bombers in one of the most successful precision bombing attacks of war and sank the German battleship Tirpitz, the last of the major German battleships.

1970 The Bhola Cyclone hits East Pakistan, killing hundreds of thousands people. The tragedy is credited with starting a chain of events which led to the creation of modern day Bangladesh. My eldest brother who was with the Sappers at the time, was part of the British Task Force sent from Singapore

1926 The first recorded aerial bombing on US soil took place in Williamson County, Illinois, during a feud between rival liquor gangs, the Sheltons and the Birgers

    13th November, 1642.

The Battle of Turnham Green was fought in the first English civil war.

Strategically it was a win for the Parliamentarians but classed as tactically indecisive.

    Let’s call it score draw.
