I've heard similar with possibly Heaton included in a deal?

Surely has to be Keith Andrews then.

Not sure we need another defender at the moment and certainly wouldn't want to lose Heaton.

Andrews looked class when playing for Ipswich at ours but I saw something about other Prem clubs being interested in him - Villa, Bolton, Everton, Wigan and Swansea. Why stay in the Championship when he can go back to the Prem and keep Prem wages, especially when he is 31 and won't have too much time to keep that level of earnings?

Also, if Kean takes the long walk, as he must, then will Blackburn want to let anyone go before a new manager (Mark Hughes maybe?) comes in and assesses the playing staff?

Wilson is ex-Pompey and looked very good for them while not setting the world alight for Stoke. I think he played in their mauling at Man City last night. However, he is only 22 compared to Andrews 31 so is a better long term prospect. He can play full back, either side, or central mid field.

    Andrews isn't a defender, surely?

We need midfield cover, even if it's not out wide. We've pretty much all agreed wingers are needed but good versatile midfielders who can play in our high energy pressing and passing style are 1st on the list imo.

A striker keeps getting mentioned but with 1 position up front and Miller, Mason and Rudy to cover it I'm not worried if we don't strengthen there.

We mut have a keeper lined up if Heaton is going, seems unlikely to me unless he is pressing for the move.

No Steve, Andrews is a midfielder who has the ability to get forward and score goals. He has done well for Ipswich and has indicated he wants to stay there if a deal can be done.

As to a replacement for Heaton, wonder what the guy we have on loan from Villa is like? However, with our track record for loaner keepers in the second half of seasons, he needs to be careful.

How about someone like Spurs young winger Andros Townsend, just signed a new contract but reckon Harry will loan him out again.

Had a training ground bust up a couple of weeks ago and now they are out of Europa Cup he won't see much game time.

I said in the last window he would be a good winger for us but will Malky want him if he has attitude? Also, if signed a new contract then will be on higher wages. I don't think he will ever make the grade at Spurs but would be an attractive transfer target for lower Prem clubs.
