The first casualty is Ryan Fredericks. Injured after only 15 minutes in the friendly against Brighton just over a week ago, Ryan will miss the start of the season. Not entirely sure what the problem is, but believe it's ligaments. Could be out for a wee while then.
You forget, our first injury was that of Ross McCormack - the slight leg niggle that has kept him out of these pre-season friendlies
Worse than thought for Ryan Fredericks. Really bad luck for him given that it was a nasty foul which caused the injury. "The Club can confirm that Ryan Fredericks will have surgery on his ankle on Monday 1st August. The full-back picked up the injury in our 3-0 pre-season victory over Brighton & Hove Albion, and had to be substituted early on. A 10-12 week recovery period is anticipated post-surgery. Goalkeepers Marcus Bettinelli and David Button will also miss the meeting with Crystal Palace with minor quad tightness and a minor ankle injury, respectively, while Tim Ream is out with illness and Cauley Woodrow has a minor ankle issue. All four are expected to be available for our season opener against Newcastle United on Friday."
Academy (U18) player Foday Nabay is out for 4 months. please log in to view this image Big and powerful, the 17yr old England youth international came to us in 2013 after he did a bunk from Birmingham. He signed his first 3 year professional contract in 2015. Back in his Brum days Foday was a 'Club Futsal UK Ambassador' with a personal motto of "Keep the faith chase the dream not the lifestyle” . He slipped just a tad from that ideal at times during last season; hopefully this injury won't be a set back.
In a Club interview our main medical man, Marco Cesarini, says that Ryan Fredericks Should be back in training at the end end of October. The good news however, is that Floyd Ayite's injury was not as bad as some feared and ... he's back! Marcus also talks about the role of the other medical/fitness guys, how they keep in touch with payers on International duty and how they assess/integrate the newbies. Looks like Floyd Ayite is out for 4 to 6 weeks after he had to be carried off at the end of Tuesday's game. The gaffer said today, “I don't know exactly how much time we will be waiting, but he is going to have lost a few weeks. We would expect perhaps into the next international break. I am not sure right now as we are still assessing him, so it is not clear how many games or weeks we are going to be waiting for him. At the moment we are not thinking about surgery, but it is a bad kick and at the moment his ankle is so big with inflammation and we are waiting for more clear news.” This is the one that did for him please log in to view this image
Ryan Fredericks has spent time at the Jaguars place in Jacksonville working on his rehab. The first piece of good news is that he's back home ahead of Hurricane Matthew hitting the place. And the really good news is that he's looking fit and raring to go. Here's a link to a clip from him, of his time there: http://www.fulhamfc.com/news/2016/october/05/fredericks-jags-diary
Mentioned Tomas Kalas and Floyd Ayite in the v Barnsley thread wondering wondering what was up. Well the Gaffer has confirmed now that Kalas is a hamstring and Ayite his ankle. Also not only have they been out for a fair while but he says they won't be back for a wee while. “Tomas still hasn’t started working with us. We’re still assessing him and it’s going to be very difficult for the Barnsley game. 100 per cent he isn’t going to be part of the team. We want to put him in the optimum level to help us after this game. I don’t know if it’s Norwich, Aston Villa [when he’ll be available]. It’s three weeks, I believe, since he had his hamstring problem. He probably needs some more days to be 100 per cent sure he’s at the level to be in the condition to help us. Floyd Ayité is in a similar situation. He has an ankle problem, and we believe in 7-10 days he can be available fully for the team and be available to help us." Wouldn't say their absence is totally down to our dip in form. However, both have definitely been sorely missed since those heady days of August.
