I have posted this on another thread, but I just thought it was worth a thread of it's own to highlight what I think are our current positives. Am I alone in starting to feel positive, even though we haven't got a manager yet?

Now that I'm over the anger and bitterness, I'm
starting to feel quite positive. A new manager with
new ideas could well work out for the better, second
season syndrome goes out the window as we're
    pretty much starting a fresh.
I think a good appointment would encourage Siggy to
put his name on the dotted line if the rumours are true
that his main desire is first team football, but if he
doesn't, who's to say a new manager won't come out
with a gem or 2 of his own?
I'm even starting to get a slight feeling of wanting
Rogers to do well - even though I hate Liverpool. If
he's there a while, he could be a useful ally for the
odd loan signing or cheap signing, as long as if/when
he does come in for our players he doesn't take the
    piss

Same!! Was well peeved when it all first came to light, but am over it now and feeling pretty optimistic about the future.. And yes, I too want him to do well. I'll be keeping an eye on their progress for sure and will be interesting to see how they play next season. I doubt we will get someone on loan anytime soon as i don't think there's a lot of young talent at Liverpool (could be wrong) but maybe in the future yes.
Am looking forward to seeing who our next manager is and what ideas he can bring forward.

I've got no idea what young talent they've got there now either, but if he's going to go out and buy young talent for the future like we done with Ryan Harley or Rory Donnelly, what better club to loan them to for them to adapt to his philosophies than us? I know that's double edged though because it also means that our players will suit him when the 12 month clause has expired, but if anyone wants to move on they will anyway whether it's to Liverpool or anyone else

Exactly, players like ash and Allen are destined for a top top club, and we know how Liverpool like to spend!! Squeeze them for every penny they have I say. We all know huw won't sell cheap! But if brendan does still have a soft spot for this club then yes, this could be beneficial in the long term.

As I said on another thread, I think Norwich have lost the better manager. I know that may sound like sour grapes, but Lambert does seem to have more of a gameplan. I heard a stat last week that in one game last season (I forget who against) Lambert changed his formation 7 times in one game and got a result. Nothing changed much with our formation with the exception of the Wolves game at home, and even then there didn't seem to be anything to prevent it going tits up when they started coming back

its a fact that brendan did have his faults but we have still lost a dam good manager. its important now that we install a manager who likes our style of football and wont change to much, he will obviously stamp his authority from day one and maybe some of our players might not be to his taste. but whatever happens we need someone asap so he can identify the players we need and staff he needs to carry on where brendan left off....im sure we will be fine come pre-season....

I get what you are saying SA9 - this was definately not a Martinez scenario and the anger and bitterness has also subsided very quickly for me too. Im still very dissapointed that Rodgers left so quickly and I still dont think it was a good move on his part, I dont doubt that given say 2 years he will take LFC forward and they will be playing more attractive football but during the transiton and difficult periods how much patience will the LFC faithful have - not as much as us for sure. However I hope they do well and Im ready to wish him all the best ( there you go said it!!)
Ive read many on here undermining the work Rodgers did which I find incredible - he not only delivered premier league football but kept us there in style and without fear and won alot of admirers around the world in the process. No he wasnt flexible, we played one way and one way only and the aim was to get better at playing that way. It didnt always go well (QPR, Norwich) but when it did it was spectacular (Arsenal, Fulham) and like what noone else was doing.
He will be a hard act to follow but we need to get someone in who will continue our philosophy. Weve been playing something along those lines for many years now(Rodgers developing it further) but my vision for the future is that Swansea City becomes synonomous with Total Football. it might sound a bit pompous but its essential for a club our size to develop an identity - I want the Siggys and Borinis of the world to think ´i might not make a packet down there but they play exciting football and they ll let me express myself`
    Over to you Huw!

Take our time & sign a well thought out choice . This team can be ready , without a manager , better than most teams because we've played basically the same under the 3 previous managers & I suspect the same under a fourth . Most managers need to come in anew , under pressure & try to right the ship . New managers at Swansea seem to come in , take the helm & drink there coffee all cozy .

My stomach has just now stopped churning. Hope we get our new man in asap. Spoke with leon today in tesco, Gowerton. Wasnt letting on anything and said he knew nothing. But thought that the appointment would come quickly. Then he said ' It's just the Swansea way. nothing easy is easy is it.' He is right and for the last few seasons there has always been something.

Whilst i feel no anger to Rodgers. I still cant want him to really do well. Sorry i just cant do it as he is one of our rivals now. Just hope we turn them over twice.

I hope all the best for Rodgers , he was just what the doctor ordered RE: Transfer Record for players , but you wouldn't catch me betting on a happy time for Liverpool & Rodgers next season . Buck is in way way over his head IMO & I honestly hope I'm wrong . We made a terrific deal selling Rodgers off to a " Money Team " which totally payed for Sig .... & if he don't show up , there's 14 million already committed to an already very good team & a pending manager , leaving a cr#p load more money for facilities !

What Breezy has said here is right on the money, our squad and game make managers, and not the other way round, and while you could say that Jacket started to build the foundation, there is no doubt that the master craftsman was Roberto Martinez, he was the best ever manager appointment in this last 20 years, both Sousa and Rodgers couldn't fail to succeed looking after the boys we have here at Swansea city. I've learnt not get carried away anymore with managerial changes, after Martinez took to flight, so just as we will see with Sousa struggling at Leicester and being fired, so it will be with Rodgers at Liverpool in my view. Rodgers is a good manager in some respects, but not in others, his strongest attributes are his connections in the game from Reading and Chelsea, and his man management skills, are up there with Roberto, but that's where it ends, he is not the tactician of either Sousa or Martinez, and Liverpool will soon find that out.

I have no ill will regarding Rodgers, but to me his stay here was to resurrect his career, and nothing else, he new he didn't have to do much to get us to the Premiership, because we only needed fire power up front, everything else was in place, three signings where critical to that, Sinclair, Borini, Caulker, and job done. Far too much credit has gone to Rodgers this season, simply because the media woke up to what a good side Swansea are, the exposer meant that the press went into overdrive with the way our team played, while Rodgers crafted his press interviews better than even Bobby brown shoes, and that takes some doing. Finally what I'm grateful for is the fact that he didn't tinker to much with our possession game, but you better believe he'll struggle to get the Liverpool boys to keep the ball the way we do, that is why I won't be surprised after the 12 months is up he'll be coming in for some of our pass masters!.....

Top post Phil. don't know how to do the smiley for thumbs up on my phone, but thumbs up it is. I've disagreed with you in the past on the old 606 site, and I still cringe with the 'Brenda the tea lady' thing, but I think you're pretty much on the money there

    Big headline

"I AM GOING TO TAKE THE PRESSURE OF MY PLAYERS AND SHOVE IT ON TO THE OPPOSITION"

The he tells the fans "I am going to bring the title to this club"

And takes the pressure off the opposition, and shoves it on himself.

Brendan your so moneysupermarket and you don't even know it<laugh>

Yes I did upset a few! it was meant to be tonger in cheek, but kind of got lost in the backlash! I don't get to connected with managers anymore, maybe because I watched Roberto for years down the Liberty play for us, then see him progress so well as manager, he was part of the furniture with us, and then such a blow, which I have now learnt from!..................... <cheers>

Dragon - you underestimate the role of Rodgers but we ll have to agree to disagree on that one. the interesting thing though about our club is its continuity - a person with the right philosophy, contacts and man management skills will be onto a winner
