To summarise a few aspects that are frustrating most of us, for example; 1. Nigel Pearson leaving what appeared to be a forward and upwardly looking club 2. Failure to strengthen in the transfer window 3. Barmby's unwillingness to play Olifinjana and Simpson when we have no creative midfielder and no one capable of scoring 4. Barmby's terrible interview manner and inhability to acknowledge unacceptable performances, 'Im proud' bollox..... All three aspects might be explainable as follows; 1. Nigel became aware of the perilous financial situation after he joined and realised no opportunity to take the club further. 2. Mr Allam can only be expected to do so much, now the club must reorganise, become lean and efficient, no in's until all the roles at risk are resolved. 3. Oli as openingly stated he's got three years on his contract and he wants to honour it, plus he's tall and Barmby hates anyone over 5'10". Simpson might score if he plays him and that would look bad on Barmby not playing him in the last 10 games. 4. Barmby's attempt to immitate a proper manager Any one with any other explanations please feel Free to share! UTT
Will people get over Simpson. He is no good at this level - he has gone everywhere on loan since his career started and we've been the only takers so far
If I have two cars, one a pretty decent one, modern, gives me a very nice drive to work, and the other, I got a few years ago, when I was a bit short of cash, it's a banger, and it's pretty uncomfortable, and often breaks down. One morning I get up, and my nice decent car doesn't start. Do I: a) Sit all morning in my car, knowing that it *should* get me to work, as it used to work fine, and in fact was a very reliable car for it's previous owner, and just hope it starts. or b) Get the run down, unreliable car out, and give it a go, because I know my good car isn't going to start.
You think we signed Oli on a seven year deal? His deal runs out next year and one way or another, he'll be gone in the summer(he also isn't worth anything like what he's cost us). Millwall fans were happy to see the back of Simpson and he was ****ing useless for us 90% of the time, now he might be new saviour? Complete bollocks. Pearson left because he got a better job(more money, more funds to invest and more chance of promotion). So, in my opinion, apart from being completely wrong about everything, you're bang on.
c) Walk, cycle, or get a bus. Any are more viable alternatives than b) which could well break down in the outside lane, possibly causing a multiple car pile-up in the process.
you can add Oli to 'getting over' Simpson.. he really isn't that good a footballer - nor, is he a grafter - and that's why he's not in the side.
I would happily walk or cycle - the trouble is, our designated driver has opted to sit in the broken down car...
Maybe he's no good, but at the moment none of our strikers are so in my book he deserves another shot, he's better than Mark 'Plan B' Cullen that's for sure. With regards to Oli - people are judging him on the Blackpool game, yes he was **** but it was his first game back give him a chance! He played well for Cardiff last season and was one of the better players of our second PL season, not even making the bench is just a joke. Don't get me wrong I rate Evans and McKenna but they're both defensive midfielders, Oli offers more going forward so I don't think it would do any harm playing him for the last few games to try something new, especially since we've ****ed up our play-off chances.
Completely agree with this. Why Barmby hasn't given Simpson a bit of a chance is madness considering our goal scoring record! The same with Oli, especially now that Koren is out... We either have Mckenna who very rarely makes an attack minded pass or Evans who (at the moment) seems to lose the ball with every pass.
You can make a good case for putting Oli in for Evans at the moment, he's dropped off badly in the last few games. And despite me saying that Simpson is not good enough, I do think he's better than Mclean and he would probably be playing ahead of him if it wasn't for the fact that he told Nick he doesn't want to play out wide.
Simpson played poor at Millwall why should we start him? We are playing one striker and that striker is Fryatt. He has a far better scoring record, so where on earth do you want to play Simpson? Olifinjana is overrated, Cardiff fans didn't want him back so why is he that good all of a sudden?
I think Simpson would work in a 4-4-2. He's intelligent, he didn't spend umpteen years at Arsenal because he was ****. He is a proven goal scorer at this level. His season on loan at QPR was a decent enough return. Anything has to be better than Cullen on the bench.
"4. Barmby's terrible interview manner and inhability to acknowledge unacceptable performances, 'Im proud' bollox....." FFS, and folks wonder why Pearson was not more forthcoming in his interviews!
He played in a 4-4-2 for Millwall, if a team who are fighting relagation don't want him why do we? He is not **** i admit that much, but he is not good enough for us. He scored goals previously, pretty sure Francis Jeffers had one good season doesn't mean he can do it now. Cullen has not had one chance since he came back, and i think that speaks volumes, and its not being his fault.
The evidence of the last week says that the teams fighting relegation are better than us at this point of time.
On current form, maybe so. However Simpson has never done anything when he was thrown on for us before, he scored 4 goals in one half decent spell, before and after that he has done nothing. You as well as me know Simpson is highly unlikely to be with us next season, as neither party really want the other anymore.
