Registered my details, will be signing the petition asap! I was at Hillsborough for the Leeds v Coventry F.A. Cup semi-final, in the Leppings Lane end. This disaster could so easily have happened to Leeds Utd fans & their families, as I am sure it could have been the same incompitent Senior Officers in charge that day too. I often think 'but for the grace of God go I'. I hope the 96 victims rest in peace & the families & survivors find justice now the truth is out.
Deffo signing this and never buying the Sun paper again! the police and everyone who tried to cover it up should be ashamed.
Don't care if they're ashamed - just as long as they're jailed! Sounds flippant, but I'm deadly serious. My 24-y-o son & I watched the ITV documentary this week. We were both very emotional watching it. This was the closest I've come to crying since I was 12. Quite apart from all the horrors, the biggest overwhelming shock for me was it could have been me, and at probably any ground in the country at that time. It had never occurred to me until now.
Chuffed to bits that the truth has finally come out, and hope plenty of those responsible get some time bending over in the showers. I was however surprised that the FA aplogised and then found out why. These tools that have screwed up football for years, were told the week before by the HSE that the ground wasn't being given a safety certificate and had not had a certificate since the year before semi final, when the disaster could have happened then. fans were crushed etc, etc, etc. So the FA ignored it, and never even kicked off with the wendies as to why they hadn't made improvements. The police could have refused to allow the match because it wasn't safe, but everyone just burried their heads, because football fans were always seen and treated like animals. # Today the FA, Wendies would be prosecuted for corporate manslaughter, dereliction of duty in a public office and a whole raft of offences. I even remember Bates at Chelsea around this time calling fans monkeys because they were behind cages. So because football fans were seen as animals, Thatcher even after being advised that the South Yorkshire Cheif Constable has to resign, decided to start covering it up because she didn't want the police to look bad. The police were fooking bad, and so a massive cover up happened which covered the arses of the Fa, Sheff Wed, Police, ambulance service a bent coroner, local MP's and councilors. Almost 50% of the 96 should have lived but the coroner insuisted that they were all dead by 3:15 and calling it an accident. The ambulance service were shocking and I'm sure the Sun rag was encouraged to write that piece about robbing the dead, and drunken fans etc, because Murdoch was in cahoots with Thatcher at the time. fook me talk about conspiricies, this was massive but the truth has been well known by many for years, but kept their gobs shut
