We were 10th in the table on 14 points after 10 games, having just drawn with Liverpool. We sat 3 points off Everton in 4th place, and 10 points off 18th, with some very winnable-looking games to come.

Since then we've played a further 26 games and accumulated just 24 points. Just to give you an idea of what others have managed to do in that same time:

    QPR - 21 points
    Reading - 24 points
Wigan - 24 points (rather surprising, but they play game 36 tonight, so that will probably change)
    Fulham - 25 points
    Norwich - 28 points
    West Ham - 28 points
    Sunderland - 29 points
    Aston Villa - 31 points
    Swansea City - 31 points
    Stoke - 32 points
    West Brom - 34 points
Southampton - 35 points (they were bottom with 4 points)

Says it all really. By 12th January we'd only picked up another 7 points. If we go down we have to look to our disastrously poor November and December (6 points) as the key phase of the season.

Pardew should have been sacked after the defeat to Reading. That is when the crowd turned on him. He cost us three points that could ultimately relegate us. The man is a liability and should never have been appointed manager in the first place.

I remember being a little disappointed we didn't win at Liverpool because I thought it was our best chance to win there for a while. Couldn't have been more wrong.

I agree. Every game he was placed in charge of since then was a gamble and that gamble has gotten bigger by the fortnight and if that massive gamble pays off and we stay up or even if we do not stay up we should never in a thousand years take that gamble next season and relieve him of the wheel after he has sunk the ship so low.

I know someone else being even worse doesn't always cheer people up, but this year that's all it will take for you to stay up. On 16/12/12 norwich were just two points off 4th place, on 25 points after 17 games. In 19 games since we have gained just 13 more points, while Newcastle have gained 21. :( if the Wigan Swansea result stays as it is then my team might help you stay up on 39 or even 38 points.
