The League 1 Table looked like this

    Brighton...........pld 31 W18 D8 L5......pts 62
    Bournmouth......pld 33 W16 D10 L7....pts 58
    Huddersfield......pld 33 W16 D8 L9.....pts 56
    Peterborough....pld 32 W16 D5 L11....pts 53
    Southampton....pld 31 W15 D7 L9......pts 52
    Franchise.........pld 34 W15 D7 L12....pts 52
    Charlton...........pld 31 W13 D8 L10....pts 47

So even last season we would be way out in front. So (other than most of the players) what has changed in 12 months?

    <cheers>

Shows how badly we finished last season doesn't it!

Apart from ten different players making up the first 11 and the confidence winning has brought, not a lot

On the subject of this and last season I believe it was Twekes who predicted twenty more scored and twenty less conceded at the start of the season (apologies if I've got that wrong). For that to come true we only need score 19 more and conceed less than 23 more (the total amount we've conceded all season). What a difference a year makes.

It was me, Room101 - at the time it was an aspiration, based on nothing more than our pre-season games and a large chunk of hope, now it's beginning to look like a reality. I was brought up on Charlton sides that scored one more than the opposition, however many the opposition scored.

This is probably the best, the tightest, the most creative back four I've seen at the club and it's no coincidence, I think, that both the games we've lost have been by means of hefty deflections, which you simply can't legislate for.

The other unexpected addition is the attacking quality of our two full-backs, fast, incisive and with precise crossing ability - fabulous to watch.

I also predicted that we'd win the division with Sheffield United runners up - if all four things happen, I'll truly scare myself. <yikes>

Blimey Brighton picked up 33 points in their last 15 games to finish on 95 points. That's impressive. We need another seven wins to beat their 95 points total last season. Think that might be a bit tight.

I disagree, the way we are playing (amazing how quickly it can turn around !!), i think this is almost a given that we will beat 95 points quite easily.

Its amazing this - only seven days ago we (me included) were lamenting our bad form and fearing that the bubble would burst. Now were are going to win every game and get zillions of points. Love it! Amazing what a bit of confidence can do.

And anyone still uncertain of our ability to compete in The Championship should take a look at the excuse for a football match on BBC1 at the moment.

It should get rid of all your concerns.

IMO there are three players of undoubted class on the pitch and you could probably guess them from memory - Nicky Maynard, Kenny Miller and Kevin Nolan, whose beautiful goal was the one highlight of an otherwise dire first half.

    Awful.

Funny, i was thinking exactly the same thing Tewkes. If these 2 are in the top 6 then we have nothing to fear about next season. The quality is dreadful.

The amount of passes that went straight to an opposition player was quite unbelievable, even after some half decent approach work.

Got a huge pile of ironing done, though...<laugh>

Wow, you're showing your age now Tewkes, - yes NY was brilliant - what about the haircuts from those days !- especially the bloke in the audience right at the end.
Made me check out NY's wiki page - have a look at the photo on that - what a difference in 38 years !! Not something he's likely to be proud of !!
